The Reef CocoBeach
Sat among the mangroves, the Reef Cocobeach Resort is a luxury, beachfront hotel near Playa del Carmen in Mexico. It has an outdoor swimming pool for guests of all ages, which has a smaller section for children. It offers water sports on the beach, including kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling. After a day on the beach, you can recharge with a drink from the bars. You can dine at the buffet restaurant or one of the three ‡ la carte restaurants, which offer Mexican, Italian and Japanese cuisine. The resort has whitewashed walls and a typically Mexican coconut thatched roof, along with coordinating wooden balconies. You'll find a similar theme inside, with brightly coloured furniture and tropical plants scattered around the building. Rooms have patio doors with views of the surrounding area. You can explore the leafy green mangroves surrounding the resort or discover the colourful coral reef in the nearby ocean. You'll be able to swim among fish in the freshwater pools of Cenotes Azul, which is within driving distance. You could take a day trip to the larger resort of Cancun, where you'll find white sandy beaches, shopping malls and archaeological sites containing Mayan ruins.
The Reef Cocobeach Resort is 1.4km from Playa del Carmen. This resort's 5th Avenue is a pedestrianised shopping area and market, which is known for its street food, craft stalls and local souvenirs, such as tequila and Mexican blankets. You can visit Mayan ruins near the resort. Further afield, you'll find the former fishing village of Puerto Morelos, which is 34km north of the hotel. You could swim in one of its underground caves, sip tequila at a bar or haggle at the local art market. The ecological Xel-Ha Park is 50km away, and here you'll find rivers, jungle trails and tropical-plant-filled nurseries.
You can dine indoors or al fresco at the hotel's four restaurants. The buffet offers international cuisine, plus fruit juices, soft drinks and alcohol at various times throughout the day. Between meals, you'll be able to grab a light snack or drink from the bars.
Children can join the kids' club and use the playroom, and there's a gym for adults. When the sun goes down, you can watch the evening entertainment.
On the beach below the hotel, the hotel offers guests free sun loungers and umbrellas.

The Reef Coco is near to the city center, has friendly staffs, wonderful ocean view and buffet was amazing. Service in the restaurant was excellent! The pool area was the best of all, thanks to Maia and Boris for being so helpful.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The service, staff and management are extremely subpar and careless. I would recommend staying somewhere else that is properly staffed with management that cares. They make it impossible to get a reservation to eat anywhere so you get stuck paying tons of $$$$ for all inclusive to eat burgers and watered down alcohol.... My first room flooded from a clogged drain and had dirty squished bugs all over the walls and roaches, my second room had no hot water so I had to boil water in the coffee maker to get a warm bath and my third room had a broken A/C unit. The only thing good about this resort was 3 of the staff members that were so kind and helpful during my stay and that was Yulianna, Ahlex, and Victor. The managers don’t care how you feel as you’re just a tourist here. I tip very well and that doesn’t matter either, they don’t care about their guests at all. I have stayed here for 8 days and am currently still here so I’m speaking from experience. If all you want is slow service, dirty rooms, and watered down alcohol with a stunning view, this is the place for you.
We had only booked for a two night stay but the hotel was such a pleasure to stay in we ended up staying for five nights as all the staff were super helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a vast choice of juices and selections to suit everyone’s needs. We took the all inclusive band for I think 35 US Dollars a day which proved a great choice. There was a lot of activities on during the day and particular the helpful pool attendant Boris who remember our faces from day one and was always with a smile on his face and happy to help out. He made our stay that little more personal and made sure we got a cabana whenever he knew we was going down the beach! Thanks Boris be sure to be back and spend more time at the resort. Thomas
