We had a lovely time at Club Med Cefalù - the facilities are great, we loved the view from the terrace of our Deluxe Sea View room, despite having been slightly disappointed at having been given a room which was quite far from the sea. There is always a lot going on at the main pool (music and activities) and we preferred the Zen pool where the atmosphere was more relaxed. The activities offered were great, I especially enjoyed the tennis lessons. We were a bit disappointed though that the open air cinema showed films in French or Italian, not always showing English subtitles. Similarly, the quizzes and sports lessons were hosted in French. The food was better than expected (considering it is an all-inclusive resort), although it would have been great to have more starters and main courses without meat or fish.
We stood for one week which was perfect to try the several activities in the club: sailing, snorkling, archery or yoga... The staff was courteous at any time, the rooms tidy and clean. Due to covid 19, the bars closed earlier in the evenings and parties haven't been allowed, but anyway they had live music and evening programs, so there was no boredom at all!
If you want to go for clubbing, they told me, the other Club Med on Sicily is better (and has more guests), but for me it was perfect at it's size, to just relax and visit beautiful Cefalu during the day.
Fantastic week with 2 sons to the best club med in Europe
What we liked :
2 the gardens fantastic and a joy to walk round every day . Maybe would even be better with shrubby salvias providing more colour and to contrast with all the architectural plants more topiary shapes ,box ilex yew whatever ?
3 Rooms usually a weakness , eg sandpiper da balaia, were amazing and certainly 5 star
4 the entertainment absolutely top notch with the standout stars the evening singer french or Italian had the most amazing voice and of course Mario from England an absolute diva who provided great entertainment whether dancing diving in the pool , being chased around by his own personal fan club or in the bar chatting up the guests including us with his legendary stories designed to brighten up our day .?!
5 2 other mentions Monica at reception who looked after us throughout the week and the delightful Marina behind the bar voted by the boys as the girl they would most like to have dated had they been part of the GO staff .?
6 Zen pool was very attractive and the decking at sea level was amazing as it allowed you to walk round the cliff and back up again with the occasional hidden bar to provide refreshments .
7 Turn left out of the village and walk into the lovely town of cefalu with its great charm and wonderful cathedral , about an hour each way but better than the taxi as you really need the exercise . Stop at le petit tonneau close to club med and if you want a decent Chardonnay 22 euros will do it and it’s much better than the french or Sicilian offers on the wine list . try and do,the 3 hour boat trip run by Alexander boyfriend of Simone who works at le petit tonneau and you will get fantastic pics of cefalu from the sea .
What we didn’t like ;
1 all the wasps at the beach bar , staff didn’t seem to mind they were on the food !!’ Come on club med must do better
2 boutique not the staffs fault but lots more stock pl
3 tennis courts were hard and should be clay or artificial clay and could some one please explain to the head of tennis , and her boss what Is meant by the expression the customer is king . ? Try and be a little nicer and more pleasant next time to a guest who has supported the company you work for the last 25 years ?!
Conclusion We had a fabulous week all in all and will return in 2021 we have recommended you to all our friends
