This holiday retreat is part of an abbey set the beautiful hills surrounding Castelbuono, where each stone has a piece of history to recount. It is surrounded by green landscape and fertile countryside dominated by vineyards set against holly, oak, maple and ash and offering clear views of the sea. The medieval town of Castelbuono is only a 15-minute drive away, featuring a captivating castle and 16th century church, and visitors may spend a day sightseeing and shopping in Palermo, at only an hour's drive away.
The spacious guest rooms and suites are tastefully decorated, and each is named after a type of grape in reference to the region's distinguished wine culture. Guests will delight in the authentic Sicilian cuisine served in the two restaurants in a cheerful and yet elegant atmosphere, and the reading room, bar, swimming pool, billiard room and gardens provide excellent spaces to relax and pass the time on a delightful holiday in Sicily.

Yes the location is stunning and the restaurant serves a mean dinner and wine, but the breakfast is stale, the pool unheated, the toiletries cheap and the bedding hard, which makes this place a 4* hotel at best.
Infortunately hotel informed us no evening meal available mid week - fortunately we were able to curtail our stay without penalty
Also bar in hotel effectively deserted...
Room was clean and restaurant food when available OK
About 90 minutes drive from Palermo Airport and about 30 minutes from Cefalu, this is a great place to get away from the crowds. We hired a car at the airport for our stay and was essential to get about. Airport transfers are available. Uncertain of the availability of local taxis.
An old abbey, which has been modernised to provide comfortable air conditioned accommodation.
Once there, you don't really have to leave, as there is a pool and modest gym facility on site, along with bar, restaurant and winery.
Staff were very helpful (English speaking) and polite.
Breakfast is normally a buffet (COVID precautions in place) with ample Continental fayre, including fruit, yoghurt, breads, cheese, ham, eggs and fruit juice. They are very accomodating in the restaurant, but if you are expecting a full English for breakfast, you may not quite get the full monty.
The food here is very good.
The wine (and olive oil) served is produced on site, is good quality and reasonably priced.
Castelbuono is about a 15 minute drive and has a number of restaurants and gelaterie if you fancy a change.
We would happily stay here again and have already recommended it to friends who would similarly want to visit Sicily to get away from it all and avoid the tourist areas too.
