Badia Santa Maria de Olearia is set in an ancient monastery of the Benedictine Order on the Amalfi Coast and overlooks the sea. The structure was directly built into the rock: niches and natural windows on the sea and terraced citrus groves give to this magical place a strong spiritual atmosphere. From the beautiful terrace, from which you can admire the Mediterranean Sea, a delicious sweet and savory breakfast is served, a great way to start your Amalfi vacation. The rooms were made from the old cells of the Badia and have all been expertly restructured and equipped with every comfort and technology. Badia Santa Maria de Olearia is a place of peace and tranquility, where you can indulge yourself in moments of total contemplation, immersed in an environment of spiritual tones.

My birthday took place while touring Italy for business with my friend and colleague, and our hotel, Hotel Botanico San Lazarro arranged for us to eat at the restaurant at Badia Santa Maria de Olearia. This is an amazing location for a special dinner. Perched high on mountainside in an old grotto, this little restaurant will not disappoint. When our driver did a u-turn on the winding mountain road and pulled up to a little nook just barely off the road in the side of the mountain, we were a little uncertain. Up a flight of stairs to the restaurant entrance and WOW - what a view. This amazing little restaurant blew us away. We were greeted by Chef Vincenzo who chatted with us about our likes and needs before creating one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. The food not only looked beautiful but tasted out of this world. While enjoying our wine and meal, we gazed out at the sparkling lights on the hillside in the distance. If you are looking for the most romantic place to dine in Maiori, this is it!
My friend and I have done a whirlwind tour of Italy seeking out great destination wedding venues and her birthday happened to fall during our trip😊. Our hotel ( Botanico San Lazaro ) suggested this venue for a special dinner! Oh my gosh! It was so amazing! It is a natural grotto made into a restaurant! It’s is on the side of the mountain facing the sea as well as the hillside-spectacular views! The chef, Vincenzo, came out and met with us and designed a menu to accommodate our needs (vegetarian and picky! The hotel did let him know our needs prior to arrival) Let me say, it was not only one of the best meals in Italy but one of the best ever! It is definitely a one of a kind venue with amazing ambiance and food! I highly recommend this to everyone! We felt special, graciously accommodated and gastronomically ecstatic!
This was our second visit to Badia, and we were delighted to be back, especially as there is now a small exclusive restaurant on the terrace in the evenings serving superb food. The service from all staff is professional, attentive and friendly, the setting unique, and the view from the terrace unbeatable. This is a gem of a hotel - we will certainly be back!
