We rated this hotel as 4*, but very pleasant. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed the last week before they closed at the end of the season, so it was nice and quiet and not full which suited us. The rooms are spacious but dated and the bathrooms need upgrading. The air con was quite noisy as well, although overall we enjoyed our stay. The bar and snacks are a bit pricey, but there is a small fridge in the room for your own drinks, which can be bought from a nearby supermarket. There is a kettle and cups in the room and tea and coffee replenished daily. We did find it a bit noisy by the pool as it directly overlooked the main road so constant traffic passing. It took us about 25 mins to walk to the harbour and as it was the end of the season, buses and taxis seemed very limited. We would recommend this hotel and would stay again, but think it is expensive.
We really enjoyed our two week stay at the Aegean Suites Hotel. The room was spotless with fantastic views over the bay. Great to sit on your private terrace with a cold glass of wine in the early evening before setting off to either the beach tavernas nearby, or the pretty tavernas in the old town. Make sure you hit the old town with its higgley piggley cobbled streets rather than the eateries off the Main Street. Also get the directions into town that avoids the main road.
Main draw for the hotel is the friendliness of the staff. Stavros as front of house and Haris, Simos and Vladimir in the bar/restaurant were all brilliant and couldn’t do enough for you.
If you are in a high number suite there are a lot of steps to reach your room, but all good for your fitness. The noisy main road does run close to the pool but you can’t see the traffic and we quickly zoned out the noise.
Overall a great, small, intimate, friendly place to stay which is within 15 mins walking distance to beautiful Skiathos Town. Thanks.
The hotel is in a great location and a 20 minute walk to the centre, there are Tavernas on the nearby beach. There are a lot of steps at the hotel so would not be suitable for persons with reduced mobility. We upgraded to the Ocean view suite but the view of the sea was obstructed by trees and rooms in front - we were a little disappointed considering the cost. The Bar and waiting staff are very friendly. The Wi-Fi was a constant issue and caused us problems as we were on a Thomas Cook holiday which went into liquidation during our stay and we needed to check flights etc. When we arrived at the airport there were around 100 people with no flights, to include us. The CAA advised us to return to our hotel as it will be covered by ATOL insurance. We called the hotel to say we were coming back ( we knew there wasn't a room issue as no passengers had arrived ). We were totally shocked when the hotel said they would give us a room but we would have to pay per night. When we explained the CAA had told us not to pay as the cost will be covered by ATOL, they simply stated that we would have to claim it back ourselves. My wife was devastated - we had been Thomas Cook employees for many years, we were returning to unemployment and now stuck in Skiathos without accommodation. Other passengers were returning to their same hotels - fortunately their hotel took us in and we received half board accommodation covered by ATOL.
Would I recommend this hotel now? No - Will I ever return? - No.
