We stayed here as part of our wedding holiday. We have stayed at El Greco in Thira before but because of having families over with Children, this time we decided to stay in Kamari which is much more family friendly. Originally we booked Aegean Plaza but due to COVID, it did not open so they moved us to their sister hotel, Costa Grand.
We booked a Triple Suite. They upgraded us to a sea view room and put all our guests in the same block. The room was lovely, spacious, clean and modern with a duplex floor for the bedroom. My only fault would be the wardrobe/storage was very small for 2 adults and a child.
The pool area was superb. The beach was rocky but thats to be expected of Santorini.
Breakfast a was great, although the same food every day, there was a enough variety not to get bored. Staff are brilliant, very helpful and quick if you want something.
Try to avoid ordering taxis via the hotel as they order a luxury transfer company who are super expensive. Local taxis can be up to half the price.
Overall, an amazing stay and would book again for sure.
We arrived at Costa Grand expecting to receive a 5 star luxury reception. This is not 5 star hotel. I will start of with what is good about it. It’s clean it’s new the gym looks great. The pool area is amazing. For me this is where it ends. Frosty reception upon arrival minimum effort to make you feel like your on holiday. Your handed a 1 litre complimentary bottle of water and then your shown to your room. If you have more than 2 bags expect to carry the 3rd your self as staff don’t have a bag trolly. The room is big and empty a glorified travelodge with a pool. No extras like tea coffee nothing. The breakfast is abysmal was treated like kids with staff members dishing out your food because of COVID they seemed annoyed to be doing that. We were told off by staff for not selecting our table before going breakfast but as in other 5 stars your are normally shown to your table pure pandemonium at this resort. Finally you are at start of the landing strip if of the main airport so all the planes coming into land fly directly above which wouldn’t have been a deal breaker had everything else been up to scratch. This is a 4 star at most definitely not 5.
We visited this hotel at the end of August for my husbands 50th birthday, it was amazing. From the minute we walked into reception we knew this was the place for us, very stylish and contemporary. We were so lucky to be upgraded to a room with a private pool which really made our stay extra special. The rooms are clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and have the most amazing huge bed with lovely soft linens, the fluffy gowns and slippers were a lovely added extra. The hotel is right on the beach, and such a fantastic location for enjoying all the restaurants/bars which were literally less than a minutes walk away. The planes do go over throughout the day and were very low but we knew the hotel was on a flight path and this did not bother us at all, if you like to watch the sunrise, you can use the first plane that goes over around 6.40am for a wake-up call as the sunrise was around 6.50. The spa was open and we both enjoyed an amazing and very relaxing back massage. The hotel has safe Covid restrictions in place which really put us at ease. Breakfast was good with lots of choice, we would definitely recommend this hotel, thank you Cost Grand.
