Andromeda Villas and Spa Resort

Andromeda Villas and Spa Resort is in Imerovigli, a village on the north western coast of the Greek island of Santorini, one of the Cyclades archipelago. The village is known for its domed churches and traditional white and blue houses. It's a short drive, or a longer but rewarding clifftop walk, from the island's capital, Thira. The villas were renovated in 2017, and are on a hillside with views from the terraces out over the Aegean. There's an outdoor pool, two splash pools and a pool area with shady cabanas where you can relax with a drink from the pool bar. The hotel, which is built in a traditional Greek style over several levels, has a spa that offers beauty and wellness treatments including massages, manicures and facials. There is also a restaurant serving all meals throughout the day. The name Imerovigli comes from the Greek word 'vigla', which means 'lookout'. From the clifftops you can see out over the caldera, the submerged remains of the volcano that formed the crescent-shaped island. Imerovigli is sheltered by a rocky headland, topped with the remains of a 13th-century castle. If you want to explore, you can take the trail that leads up to this building. The village has bars and tavernas, many with views over the sea.

Andromeda Villas is 300m from Imerovigli and 4km from the bustling town of Thira. Here, you could visit the archaeological museum or the art and culture museum, which houses historical paintings of the town. You might also like to see the frescoes inside the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral. The nearest beach is at Kamari, which is 12km away. Like many of Santorini's beaches, it has dark, volcanic sand. Kamari's waterfront is lined with tavernas and bars, and you can also take boat trips from here. If you have a car or fancy a hike, you can head off on the winding road behind Kamari, which leads to the ruins of Ancient Thera.

You can start the day with an American-style buffet breakfast at the restaurant which also serves ‡ la carte lunch and dinner. You can enjoy snacks and drinks throughout the day and evening at the pool bar. The hotel restaurant serves both Greek and Mediterranean dishes.

You can relax by the pool, which has views out over the Aegean, or indulge in a treatment or two at the hotel spa.

Rooms at Andromeda Villas have a TV and either a balcony or a terrace, with an outdoor dining area. There's also Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

Owing to the location or design of this hotel, please take extra care on your balcony and ensure that children are never left unsupervised.

The best view ever!
Oct 2020 |

Visited Santorini during COVID so lovely and quiet. Our hotel was fantastic best view very private with perfect sunset and relaxation with sunset and jacuzzi. The room was lovely and Cosy a little lounge, then bedroom and bathroom with a little kitchenette and walk in. We were outside most of the time as view was so amazing. The location is in the middle of Thira and Oia - closer to Thira and restaurants on the walk to Thira. Loved every minute

Highly recommend for pure relaxation!!
Sep 2020 |

We stayed at Andromeda Villas for 4 nights from 21st-25th Sept 2020. Upon arrival via transfer we organised through Hoppa with Notos Travel (really great and on time for a great price!), we had quite the challenge finding the reception. We soon figured out that you just needed to follow the blue arrows all the way down to the pool. There are 2 lifts at the hotel to make the stairs easier to manage but from what I figured, you will need to climb stairs somewhat to get around the hotel.

Check in was great and smooth and the staff were all very friendly. We were shown to our room which overlooked the main pool and had the most breathtaking views - I would highly recommend requesting a room in this location if you like to be able to hear the music coming from the pool bar but also have a sense of privacy and a stunning view. We had a shared balcony but it basically felt private as you had your own table and chairs and we couldn't really see our neighbours from our balcony.

In the room there were towels, a couple of free bottles of cold water in the fridge, plenty of shower gels and shampoo (no conditioner), some makeup remover wipes and soap. They will refill these whenever you need to! To ensure hygiene, they ask you to put your used towels in a black back provided in the room. They also will not clean your room unless you request this at reception due to COVID. The shower in our room was huge too! The room was a great size and was very comfortable.

We had breakfast included with the package we bought which we were really glad to have as it made life easier in terms of not being starving in the morning and spending ages deciding which nearby town to go to for breakfast. It is also an option to have the breakfast if you have not prepaid, but expect a bill at the end of your stay! The breakfast was nothing special but it did the trick. There was things like eggs, yoghurt, cereal, limited fruits, pain au chocolate and croissants, some cold cut meats, cheese, orange juice, coffee etc. Try to get to breakfast early for 8am to get a seat with a view - as you can imagine, these get snapped up pretty quickly! For hygiene reasons, there is a member of staff that puts all the food on your plate - but this doesn't take away from the 'all you can eat' aspect.

From what we saw, there was a main pool with a pool bar and some four poster sunbeds and then upstairs there were more of the sun beds with a much smaller pool. Both were as relaxing as each other and it's perfect if all you want to do on holiday is drink cocktails, eat and sunbathe/swim. Unfortunately, during COVID times, the spa was closed which was a little disappointing on the day that the weather was not the greatest and there was nothing much to do!

We hired a quadbike for the duration of our trip which I couldn't recommend enough, in my opinion, it's the only way to see the island - so convenient and easy and we always managed to get a parking space right outside the hotel. I can imagine in the busy summer months parking would be tricker but you can always find a space somewhere nearby as you can pretty much park anywhere you want on the island.

The hotel also has a resteraunt which is pleasant, we ate there once and it was quite average, I personally would recommend walking or getting transport to the nearby town of Thira for some great food. (please note that food in Satorini is expensive and expect to pay upwards of £19 for any main course - anything cheaper will usually be a non-meat/fish based meal and will be a small portion.

Our flight home was not until 10pm so we asked the hotel if we could use the pool and facilities after we have checked out (at 11am) - not only did they say yes to this but they also went above and beyond and told us we could check our of our current room and move to a different room for the day so we have somewhere to be/shower etc during the day before our flight - for FREE! I think this may have been because they had a lot of vacant rooms due to the time of year but this was unbelievable customer service and it shows how much they care about your time at the hotel.

Overall, I can't recommend Andromeda Villas enough. It is in a great location for getting to and from Thira and is around a 25 minute quad bike ride/20 min taxi from Oia. Personally, I think the views from Imerovigli were the best on the island so you'll be in for a treat at this hotel!
