Avra Beach is a family-friendly hotel on the north coast of the island of Rhodes. Rhodes is the largest of Greece's Dodecanese islands, and is known for its beach resorts and ancient ruins. The hotel is right on Ixia's shingle beach, where you can grab a drink from the hotel's beach bar and paddle in the shallow water. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool for guests of all ages, plus a smaller pool with a water slide for children. Younger guests can join the kids' club, where they can play games, paint pictures and dance at the mini disco. There's also a games room and an outdoor playground where they can have fun and make new friends. For some downtime, you can book a beauty treatment or massage at the spa, which also has a sauna. Renovated in 2016, the hotel has a whitewashed exterior, with balconies overlooking the gardens. You'll find a marble floor in the hotel lobby, alongside bright white walls and floor-to-ceiling windows. You can dine al fresco or indoors at the buffet restaurant, which organises regular Greek, Italian and Chinese themed nights. The hotel has Wi-Fi in public areas, plus a laundry service.
Avra Beach is steps away from the nearest souvenir shops, bars and waterfront restaurants. It's 7km to Rhodes Town, which is home to a variety of markets, an archaeological museum and a sandy beach. You could also take a day trip to Lindos, with its ancient acropolis, sandy beach and rooftop café's. The traditional Greek whitewashed houses and cobbled streets here make it one of the island's most well-known spots. It's also possible to get a boat to the Turkish resort of Marmaris, where you can shop for souvenirs in the Grand Bazaar, explore the old Ottoman castle or wander through the historical Old Town.
The buffet restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's a main bar in the hotel, in addition to the beach bar. They serve snacks, soft drinks, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks, including international brands. The beach bar is open from morning until late at night, while the main bar is open in the evenings only.
If you're looking for an active holiday, you can play football, beach volleyball and tennis at the hotel. You can also have a game of darts.
Rooms at Avra Beach have satellite TV, Wi-Fi and air conditioning, plus a balcony or sun terrace. Cots are available for smaller guests.

Visited Avra Beach in September 2020 for a week's all-inclusive stay, in a lovely double room with AC which overlooked the tennis courts and part of the beach/sea. Upon arrival we landed in the early hours of the morning and we were greeted with sandwiches and snacks - very much appreciated. All-inclusive package was unbelievable value for money - everything was included such as cocktails all day/night, use of the tennis court, all alcohol/food on offer in the main restaurant and the snack bar. We didn't have to pay a penny for anything! Food was delicious and lots of variety every morning/day/night, and the cocktails were amazing. The restaurants and bars are on the beach so you have a beautiful view of the sunset in the evening. The staff at the hotel could not have been more hospitable - they were so friendly and nothing was ever too much of an ask (Chef Kostas especially!!!), and there was always someone on hand to assist. This would have been appreciated in normal circumstances, but even more so as our visit was during the pandemic - the staff were constantly working so hard to make our stay as special as possible. The hotel itself was always clean, and the layout was great - you had the option to sit by the pool or on the beach (both of which had plenty of sun loungers and you didn't have to pay for these), and everything you could have needed was just a few steps away. The animation team were really fun, and did constant activities throughout the day/night which were suitable for all ages. The balance between inviting you to activities and respecting if you wanted to relax was great. A huge thank you to every single person at Avra Beach who made our stay so special and relaxing, and left us feeling very spoilt! The team are so so lovely, we will definitely be coming back!!
I stayed here just for a week as a last minute getaway which was by far the best holiday i have been on soley based on the customer service and scenery. It is very clean, the food and cocktails were lovely. The staff were perfect i couldn't fault them at all, i enjoyed everything about my stay. The hotel manager Kostas was great, his customer service was brilliant, he helped me understand the island and hotel i was staying in. Staff member Nikos was really kind and helpful, he was always happy and bubbly which was lovely it made me feel at ease having staff who are kind, The duration of your stay is seeing the same faces with the staff so it is always great to get along with them. I managed to find my favourite Greek Apple and Cinnamon pudding which they saved for me.
Hotel/Scenery is perfect for all occasions, especially during the night watching the sunset as the beach is right by the hotel what more could you ask for!!!!! Would 100% recommend to anyone.
AVRA BEACH – YOU ABSOLUTE BEAUTY. This hotel honestly has some of the best views I have ever seen and I have travelled a lot over the years. I have compared this hotel many times to one of my favourite hotels in Mauritius, so if you want the same stunning views on a budget then Avra Beach is perfect. As I work in travel, this year has been a nightmare for the industry and I decided last minute to escape to Rhodes for a break very late in the season but this did not stop me from having the most amazing experience. First of all, I was in one of the newly renovated rooms at the hotel and I feel this is a must! Because I see people complaining about the old room but if you book the old room then you get what you pay for. The new rooms are 5 star quality so worth paying the extra. The food at the hotel is beautiful. Fresh pizza every day and the Kebab wraps were to die for… and don’t even get me started on the Tzatziki,, I think I had that by the bucket load every day.. HA!. The staff was always friendly and I always made a point of having a little conversation with them most days as they worked so hard. The bar staff Mike, Anastasios, Souzana and Paulo were some of the nicest people I have ever met. Even when I sat at the bar drunk making silly jokes with my friend.., they would always laugh along even though we were probably very annoying ha! Note to self, the drinks are very strong so don’t drink too quickly.! Oh and the manager ( I can’t remember his name) was lovely! Always speaking to the guests and making sure they were having a nice holiday. All round brilliant All Inclusive for what you pay - And the snack bar at night saved my life after drinking by body weight in alcohol most nights,, haha!
There are bars and restaurants close by if you don’t want to stay at the hotel every night and the amazing Rhodes town is only 10 minutes away in a taxi or there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which is roughly 4 euros. The taxi is about 10 euros one way. Rhodes Old Town is a MUST with its beautiful castle, historical buildings and picturesque docks. Also a good way to get through your euros if you like shopping. And if you have time, visit Anthony Quinn Bay. It is literally one of the most beautiful beaches on this planet! I think renting a car when in Rhodes is the best way to do it! Highly recommend. P.s the car rental place is actually at the hotel so it easy to grab as car and take off exploring!
Overall I can honestly say I will be back as I don’t have a single bad word to say.!!
