Minos Hotel is a family-friendly hotel on the north of the Greek island of Crete. It's steps from the beach and on the outskirts of Rethymnon, a harbor town with a vibrant atmosphere. The hotel offers a base for a relaxing holiday in the Greek sun, with the local sites and attractions all within walking distance. The hotel was partially renovated in 2017 and has two outdoor pools where you can take a dip. One of these is surrounded by a sun terrace, and the other has a grassy lawn around it. During the summer, you can order a drink from the roaming waiter while you soak up the sun. There are two bars at the hotel, both of which are open until late. During your stay, you can take part in aerobics classes and play darts, table tennis or pool. The hotel also provides entertainment for you to enjoy. At mealtimes, you can eat alfresco at one of the restaurants. When it's time to head out, you'll find a number of shops in the surrounding area. You could wander into Rethymnon, which is a short walk away, or head eastwards along the seafront, where the beach continues for another few kilometres.
Minos is in a popular area with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. There's a supermarket 100m away where you can pick up snacks to take to Rethymnon beach, which is 200m away from the hotel. You can get to the center of Rethymnon by walking 1km along the seafront. Here, you can go shopping and explore the narrow streets of the old town, perhaps stopping for a coffee or a glass of ouzo along the way. There's also a Venetian fortress you can visit, a short drive away from the hotel.
The hotel has an international buffet restaurant where you can get breakfast and dinner. It puts on theme nights where Asian or Greek food is available. There's also an A la carte restaurant where you can have lunch. During the summer months, there's a breakfast room, and you can also order food to your bedroom.
Rethymnon beach is sandy and suitable for paddling. There are also a number of museums in Rethymnon where you could take the kids.
Rooms at Minos have flatscreen TVs, fridges, safes, air conditioning and central heating. All have either a balcony or terrace and a tiled floor.

A lovely hotel, very clean, located close to the beach. We had a beautiful view of the sea, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable (which rarely happens in hotels). On the balcony we had a table and chairs. The breakfast was tasty and of good quality (very good coffee!). The whole staff was very kind and made us feel among friends; I would like to mention here the persons who helped us with breakfast, and especially the bright presence of the lady who served us coffee - we had very pleasant conversations, assisted by the two pigeons who came to keep us company every morning. We would come back anytime!
Our wedding anniversary (59th) coincided with our current visit to this superb hotel , not only did we get a gateaux and sparkling wine the towels on our bed were made into swans with intertwining necks. This apart , we have found all of the staff from the management team down have been superb, nothing is to much bother despite these troubled times, and we feel so sorry that despite their best efforts as regards C19 hygiene and regulations, holiday companies are ceasing travel to here, we feel that when we return home on Saturday we will be leaving a safe environment to arrive in an unsafe one. Many thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable And we will be truly sorry to leave
Stayed 7 nights at the Minos in September 2020. During this mad covid world this seemed like a very safe place. Everyone wore face masks in public areas just removing them to eat and drink. The food was amazing and a fantastic range to choose from, the chef was a fabulous fella who knew his stuff and buffet was excellent. The senior front of house staff led the way by example special mentions go to Yanis AKA Silver, Argyro and Konstantina.
It was a very friendly safe hotel and evident of this were the ammount of single people who were visiting of all nationalities.
Excellently placed to enjoy Rethymno which is well worth a visit.
