Dimitrios Village Beach Resort

Dimitrios Village is a family-friendly hotel near the harbour resort of Rethymno, on Crete's north coast. It's positioned next to the sand-and-shingle shore of Dimitrios beach, which has shallow waters for paddling and swimming in. The hotel has two outdoor swimming pools, along with two shallow pools for children. You'll be able to use the two outdoor water slides, plus the indoor pool. You can dine at the buffet restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also a bar serving local drinks, including cocktails. Renovated in 2018, the low-rise hotel buildings have classic whitewashed exteriors, with traditional terracotta tiled roofs. You can spend long lazy days on the rooftop terrace, which has views across the sea. Rooms have a kitchen area, with hot plates and fridge freezer. They also come with patio doors that lead onto a balcony or sun terrace. At Dimitrios Village, you can spend the day at the adults-only spa, where you'll find a Turkish bath and sauna. You'll be able to book treatments, such as massages. If you're feeling energetic, you can try aqua aerobics in the swimming pool. You could also play table tennis, beach volleyball and pool. It's a short walk to the nearest bars, restaurants and shops.

Dimitrios Village is 2.5km from the centre of Rethymno, where you can explore the historic old town, with its boutiques and independent stores. You'll find cobbled streets, with narrow alleys leading to traditional Greek tavernas and pavement cafÈs. You can pick up holiday essentials at the local supermarket, which is 150m away. Further afield, it's 68km to Chania, with its old Venetian harbour, which is lined with wooden fishing boats. There's a popular market, with stalls selling local souvenirs, including hand-painted ceramics, regionally produced honey and sweet baklava. If you fancy eating out, you could dine on freshly caught seafood at a waterfront restaurant.

You can visit the bar which is open from morning until late. It serves snacks, such as ice cream, cakes and sandwiches. You'll also find tea and coffee on offer. You can venture into Rethymno and try the local cuisine, which includes moussaka, gyros and souvlaki.

At Dimitrios Village, you can watch the family-friendly evening entertainment, with a drink. It often includes live music, dancing and performances from magicians.

The hotel has two pool areas. One with a common pool and children's pool and a pool area down to the beach where a shallow pool there with water slides for the youngest children. Adult pool has steps and ladders into the pool.

The neutral rooms at Dimitrios Village have Wi-Fi access and a TV with a USB port. They also come with air conditioning. All rooms have been renovated in winter 2017/18 and 2018/19.
