On the northern coast of the Greek island of Crete, and steps from a sandy beach, Ikaros Beach Luxury Resort & Spa is a family-friendly hotel that overlooks the ocean. There are five pools at the hotel, four outdoor and one indoor. Two of the outdoor pools also have shallower kids' sections. The areas around the outdoor pools are lined with palm trees and surrounded by a sun lounging space. For an active stay, you can play beach volleyball, try your hand at jet skiing or stay in shape at the gym. For a more relaxing time, you can spend an afternoon in the spa, which has a Turkish bath and a sauna, and offers a range of beauty and wellness treatments. There are three bars and six restaurants at the hotel, as well as a number of local places to eat and drink just steps away. A short walk from the hotel along the east coast leads to a selection of beachfront restaurants and bars. To the west, within walking distance, is another sandy beach. The town of Malia is also within walking distance, inland from the hotel, where you'll find a selection of traditional tavernas and a number of shops, as well as the town's famous nightlife.
The nearest beach is steps from the hotel, and there's a selection of shops, tavernas and restaurants a short walk away. If you continue to head east along the main inland road nearest the hotel, you'll come across more shops, some bars and even more restaurants, all of which are within walking distance. There's also another beach to the east, again within walking distance of the hotel. For break from the beach, you can take a day trip to the island's capital, Heraklion. There, you can explore the ancient streets, people-watch over coffee or browse for bargains on Market Street.
The hotel has three bars, two of which are by the pools. You can get a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from all the bars. The six restaurants include a buffet, and five a la carte restaurants that serve Mediterranean, Asian, fusion and beach-themed cuisines.
The hotel runs a kids' club for ages 4-12. For family days out, there are two water parks a short drive from the hotel.
All rooms at Ikaros Beach Luxury Resort & Spa have individually controlled air conditioning, as well as a flatscreen TV and fridge.

Really disappointed with this resort. We stayed there for a few nights and had the chance to try a few of the hotel restaurants. We had one restaurant in particular that we liked and therefore on our last night we wanted to revisit it - we were told that guests could not go back to the same restaurant more than once within the same trip/vacation?!! After putting our foot down and being given special “permission” they allowed us to dine here and the place was nearly empty...I don’t understand why there was such an issue with this ridiculous policy.
The rooms: when we booked our room it looked amazing and quite large per the online pictures. Upon arrival, the room was tiny and there was a foul smell from the bathroom drain (we had to get house keeping to come fix it). We also paid additional for a sea view which was ridiculous as you could barely make out the sea.
Overall I felt like I was an extra in the dirty dancing film (when they all go to the family resort) just because the accommodation felt like it catered very much for older people and the entertainment was the same. The ridiculous rules and extra (ridiculous) fees for full board were crazy. I defiantly would NOT recommend this place. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere...
Enjoyed 3/7 days of sun in temperatures around 20 Celcius. Food 8/10. Staff 9/10, Cleanliness 9/10, Facilities 8/10.
The Spa and Wellnes (Inside Pool, Sauna, Hot Tub) facility was closed, a big minus, but not the fault of Ikaros Resort, COVIDs fault. Although we did enjoy a cretan massage there (10/10).
We can strongly assume, we’ll come back, in times when the weather is better or the wellnes facility is open.
The place is beautifully designed, rooms are rennovated and spacious, breakfast is good although somewhat limited perhaps due to covid19. There are 3 pools, a good gym and a great spa, I highly recommend the massage. We haven't tried lunch or dinner, we have preferred the local tavernas, altogether an excellent deal in low season
