Mitsis Rinela Beach

Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort and Spa offers luxury hotel rooms in the former fishing village of Kokini Hani, on Crete's popular northern coast. It's a short walk from the nearest beach bars, restaurants and cafes. The hotel has one main outdoor swimming pool, plus two smaller pools for children including one with slides. It offers a range of water-based activities, such as jet skiing and canoeing. There are three restaurants including a buffet restaurant that offers a wide range of cuisines, including an American breakfast, Italian dishes and Lebanese specialities. There are also regular theme nights. Traditional in style, the low-rise buildings have bright white exteriors, with the occasional splash of turquoise in the form of coloured wooden balconies. They're set in gently sloping gardens, with lawns, palm trees and brightly coloured flowers. You'll find a paved pool area, with views across the sandy beach to the clear water of the Aegean Sea. The hotel's neutrally decorated interior is home to an indoor swimming pool and a games room. Bedrooms have patio doors leading onto a balcony or sun terrace. At Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort and Spa, you can attend a fitness class, such as aerobics and aqua aerobics. If you're still feeling energetic, you could also play beach football, tennis or beach volleyball. Alternatively, you could spend the morning relaxing at the hotel's spa, which has a sauna and offers with a selection of beauty and wellness treatments. After sunset, you can watch the family-friendly evening entertainment, which often includes live shows, quizzes and discos.

Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa is 50m from the closest bars, shops and restaurants. It's a 650m walk from the centre of Kokini Hani, where you'll find a white sandy beach that stretches for 400m. Further afield, it's 12km to the island's capital, Heraklion, where you'll find a historic Old Town, with boutiques and independent stores, next to the early Cretan architecture. If you like shopping, you could haggle for honey and cheese on Market Street, where locally produced goods are sold as well as clothing and souvenirs. You'll be 13km from Hersonissos, with its traditional Greek tavernas and popular beach. You can have a night out on the resort's main strip, which is lined with late night bars, clubs and live music venues. It's also 13km to the local water park, with its slides, lazy river and swimming pools.

You can get drinks and snacks at the seven bars, which include two at the beach and two by the pool. You'll be able to dine at the buffet restaurant, which is open at breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also two a la carte restaurants, serving Greek and Chinese cuisine.

At Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa, younger members of the family can attend the kids' club, junior club and teen club.

Rooms at Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa have Wi-Fi and a TV with satellite channels. They also come with a balcony or sun terrace.

We stayed in Rinela hotel first week of nov and I can honestly say it has been an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons.

To say that this hotel is falsely advertised is an understatement. There is no way that this hotel is a five star hotel.

There is absolutely no consideration whatsoever for wheelchair users or mothers with prams. No lifts, no ramps, it is a disgrace that this even allowed in this day of age. If I was there on my own with the kids I would have been completely screwed.

I understand that we went towards the end of season, however we still payed full price for a hotel which one of the restaurants had been closed, the beach bar was closed For the duration of our stay and all the rooms were being emptied through the middle of the night ready for end of season, which disturbed all of the guests which are staying in the rooms around them.

I am not a fussy eater in the slightest but the food is poor and the staff in most areas of the hotel especially the reception staff were very rude and unhelpful.

The rooms are beyond dated, one of us had to move rooms twice as one of the rooms were infested with flying ants, then the room which they were moved to the bathroom flooded so they had to move yet again. Yet when complaining to reception there was not even a single apology. An absolute disgrace.

There are too many bad points to list to be honest, but I really would like some compensation for the complete and utter false advertisement of this hotel and the poor service in which we have received for the duration of our stay.

Oh also the rooms were being completely emptied the doors taken off and everything because they are being knocked down once the season ends, this explains how bad the rooms are, yet when you complain about them they make up the most ridiculous excuses.

Basically avoid this hotel and book somewhere else!

Glad to be home!!!
Nov 2020 |

Never have I been so glad to come home from a holiday. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel the pictures online are extremely misleading, we paid a lot of money for a 5 star and the rooms were smelly, dated and dirty, I would dread going back to the rooms to sleep. Every time we had a shower it would flood the bathroom with drain water, we expected al la carte restaurants only to be told it was shut as it was close to the hotel closing for the season, the spa was not in use either as well as other facilities in the hotel like the outside bar/live music. We was NOT told this before we booked. The food in the main restaurant is not edible, most of us had come back and lost weight from the lack of food available, the only god send is the kebab opposite.

I would highly recommend NOT BOOKING this hotel.

Also not 1 ramp/lift in the whole hotel, extremely dangerous when it rains and they only have steep stairs

Not good at all
Nov 2020 |

I don’t usually review hotels but I felt this time I had to , we booked a five star for a bit of luxury and good service but oh my goodness it was not good , food was cold and tasteless, rooms were very dated and disappointing and the staff apart from a handful were extremely rude , the hotel is definitely NOT a five star low 3 at best , it was possibly a 5 star 20 years ago but not now . The resort not maintained at all , if you are looking to book this dont ! !!
