Mediterraneo is an All Inclusive hotel with activities for all ages. It's a short stroll up an incline from the sandy Star Beach on the Mediterranean Sea, just outside the bustling resort of Hersonissos on the northern coast of the Greek island of Crete. The hotel is surrounded by gardens that are shaded by palm trees. There are two main pools and two shallower children's pools, and in the summer you can also use the mini water park, with its water games and slides for kids. For children's entertainment there's a playground and a playroom, while adults who like to keep fit can use the gym. The town of Hersonissos is within walking distance or a short drive away, and has a long, modern promenade. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, do some shopping or enjoy the nightlife. The town also has the only golf course in Crete and two water parks. From Hersonissos you can catch the local bus which runs to Agios Nikolaos, Malia or historic Heraklion. Agios Nikolaos is famous for its lake, and for being set on the largest natural bay in Crete. Malia has some archaeological ruins to explore during the day, and offers bustling nightlife in the evening.
The nearest beach to the hotel, Alekos Garden Beach, is 300 m. If you want to find somewhere quieter, you can go eastwards to find a series of smaller sand and pebble coves, some with freshwater springs. Heraklion is 25km away, and is surrounded by medieval fortress walls. The heart of the old city is pedestrianised. You can explore sites like the Byzantine St Titus' Cathedral, or visit the art gallery in the former St Mark's Basilica. A short drive 5km from Heraklion are the ancient ruins of Knossos, home of the Minotaur according to Greek legend.
Mediterraneo's buffet restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel has three bars, one indoors and the other two by the pool. Snacks and ice cream are available at the pool bars in the daytime. In the afternoon, coffee, tea and biscuits are on offer in the lobby bar.
The hotel organises activities around the pool and on the beach including water aerobics, beach volleyball and football. You can also play tennis and table tennis.
Two separate pool areas with pool and kids' pool. At each pool area, there is also a bar. Stairs with rails down into the pools. To get to the beach, you cross the road via a tunnel.
The rooms at Mediterraneo are furnished in a simple style. They have a TV with satellite channels and a fridge. Wi-Fi is available.
