My wife and I have recently returned from a weeks holiday at this charming venue and we cannot fault the attentive service and lovely appetising food cooked a la carte to order. A tranquil, rural location lending an insight into local country life and particularly peaceful when we stayed late season. Spotlessly clean everywhere at Pension Nychterida from room to outdoor eating area and pool. Run by a family and with a small number of rooms available, one could not find a more friendly and peronalised stay, The pension status means you dont get a daily room clean and bedding change and towels are only changed twice weekly but that did not bother us particularly. If you need to sample a more lively nightlife Kavos is only a short drive by hire car. We did hire a car from Sunrise Cars were met at the airport. We drove to and from Corfu town several times and averaged 45 minutes travelling time. The walk from Nychterida to the nearby village of Marathius is mostly uphill and provides good exercise for about 15 minutes, after which there is a bar and bakery to sit and relax and recover and watch local folk.
Would we go again, absolutely! Great value and money well spent.
I can't recommend this pension enough. We arrived not knowing that it was indeed a pension and so were unsure what we had let ourselves in for. However, when we left 5 days later it was with sadness. Elena and Mia are the sisters who run things. They are amazing, bend over backwards to make it a relaxing break. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was greeted with a smile. Our two babies, 24 and 22 months old fell in love with them. The pool area is lovely. The playground tired but the girls loved it. The beach is no more than a very pleasant 10 minute walk and is outstanding. One of the best beaches i have been to and I have been to a few. You probably need a car if you want more than a pool/beach break. The food, all homemade, was outstanding. It has a 3star rating due to the rooms being basic but they are fine, they are everything you need from a room. Do pay this place a visit, please, even if for just a few days. We will go back.
The two sisters running the bar and restaurant make this hotel the friendliest we have ever stayed at. Don't be fooled by the low star rating. Service and food are 10 out of 10 every time.
Although our beds weren't the most comfortable we have ever slept in I would gladly sleep on the floor if I am able to return to this haven.
Fantastic value for the stay and the food. Never left the table hungry.
Super pool kept clean daily.
Mia and Helena never fail to have a smile on their faces even after long days serving from dawn till midnight. Absolutely made our holiday.
Hoping some day to return to this golden find.
