Lovely place to enjoy a great holiday: wonderful location, plenty of sports facilities and entertainment for all tastes. I enjoyed the Tennis courses and the social activities.
The GO team was fantastic and we were taken care of in a very professional way.
We just came back from a 2 week's stay at Club med Opio. We had visited the club before and again it was truly amazing. What really stood out this time was the GO Team, more of that later.
We had an interconnecting room in Camomille which is very close to the village centre and all amenities. In view of the Covid pandemic the rooms all had a “makeover” and all laundry gets washed at very high temperature. The rooms get disinfected before first use and are always very clean and towels and water were replenished every day. Club Med has adopted “safe together” measures and implemented them in Opio too. That ranges from a lower capacity at the resort itself, safe welcome at reception, trained staff and an overall health and safety protocol which made us feel very much at ease.
We ate in the main restaurant every day. The food was as usual up to a very high standard, with a lot of variations and desserts to die for! Maybe the selection was a bit smaller this time and in lieu of buffet style you would get served by the staff behind the counters. Tables at the restaurant were more spaced out to guarantee enough social distancing. The servers were all very attentive and friendly and the whole restaurant was run in an impeccable manner by manager Julie and her assistant Mac, well done!
The club itself is run like a well oiled machine by chief of village Pierre-Jean, a very seasoned and extremely experienced CdV, who is very much present during the course of the day. He was assisted by More and both made sure that all our needs were met, and we’ve had lots of social interaction. Great management team! As I mentioned at the beginning, the GO's made all the difference. We have been to many Club Meds before, but rarely have we encountered such a fabulous team. Bear in mind, that also for the GO’s this was a new situation, with compulsory mask wearing and having to make sure that social distancing is in place all the time. The whole team displayed total professionalism and such a 'joie de vivre', it was truly wonderful to spend so much time with them. We actually felt totally spoiled by all the warmth and attention we received. So let's go by steps - and I do hope that I won't forget anyone.
First of all, my beloved circus team run by fabulous Diogo and Sacha. It was like coming back to a family and they all have been truly amazing, so patient in teaching us and making the stay really memorable. I felt -and I mean this- really humbled that they dedicated so much of your time (and effort) to help us improve. We couldn't have asked for more. So thank you (in no particular order) to Diogo, Sacha, Jayson, Arnaud (a special shout out to you “spacca tutto”), Benjamin, Laura, Mathilde, Margaux and Zero. They are simply amazing and all unbelievable artists.
Tennis: Nathanael and Mickael are amazing tennis pros. My husband is a keen tennis player and he thoroughly enjoyed the coaching provided by them. Their teaching methods are very effective. They covered all technical, tactical and psychological skills to improve the game, but most importantly they are very friendly and a lot of fun. We did the group lessons with Nathanael and rarely had I so much fun by learning new skills at the same time. Nathanael also provided every single one of us with individual feedback at the end of each lesson, with groups of 8-10 people a great achievement!
Vahap is the land sports manager and he runs a great team. Thanks for all the nice chats we had and listening to us.
Our two girls didn't “officially” join the junior club, but Anthony (“Nickel”) and Romain made sure to introduce them to all the girls in the group, mainly French speakers but luckily they made friends with a girl who spoke English and that broke the ice for them to then communicate with the rest only children can do and they had the best of times! So, thanks again for that.
We also met Nini (aka la bordellista) which we had met previously in Opio from the mini club and shared so many laughs. From the same team we got to know Denise who completed our little Italian GM/GO group.
Reception: Traditionally this has usually a week point within Club Med but it couldn’t have been any better. The reception team is lead by Mariam. From the arrival court outside to any request you might have, the team did a fabulous job. We had an issue with the air conditioning which was sorted straight away and even a request for bottled water in the room around midnight wasn’t too much. We were especially looked after by Chiara and Elisa with whom we spent some time socially too. They both made constantly sure that we were having the best of time. Thanks as well to our dedicated GO Manuel.
From the bar team we met Giorgia the assistant bar manager who would not hesitate to mix us delicious new drinks. She does an excellent job in her role and we enjoyed spending time with her.
Most of the shows and entertainment where outside including the crazy signs. I thought that gave the evenings a very summery vibe. Special mention to the Creactive Demo on Thursdays and the white pool show on Fridays.
I really do hope that I haven't missed anyone out that we wanted to mention, if so, I do apologise. We all wish we could go back again soon!
Opio is a wonderful place to meet friends for all ages, my daughter build herself a really fun group, all the team are wonderful starting with the mini club including Arthur, doudou ( Edouard ) or Filipa and the junior club with Anthony and Romain. The best mojito made by Valentin.
Laurie also know how to manage the teens with her activity around rescuing in the pool.
We had a really fun week and totally recommend this club.
