We had a great experience in the Jaz Makadina. The hotel was very well maintained and had a lot of nice things to offer. We were, however, moved from the Jaz Aquaviva to this hotel due to low occupancy in December and so weren't originally due to stay here. I did suffer with a stomach bug on one of the days here (possibly due to the local water or some fruit we had from an earlier trip) but the staff were amazing and went completely out of their way to ensure that I was looked after. They offered to make me special soups and teas to try to ease my stomach and everyone from the wait staff to the management were asking how I was feeling each day after my wife let them know I was unwell.
Our only criticism was the front of house/reception staff. Given that we often stay in Hilton Hotels where the welcome and check out experience has been honed over years of experience, the staff on reception were pretty vacant and disconnected from the guests during check in and check out. We tried to explain this to one of the staff on leaving, but sadly they weren't able to stop themselves from talking for long enough to really understand our concerns which was a bit of a shame. We did however meet some tremendous friends from Egypt who I have no doubt we will stay in touch with and would probably return again due to the lovely beaches and, with the exception of the reception staff, the fantastic team. A huge thanks to Mahmoud & Monty from the bar for being absolutely brilliant personalities, and to Julia & Vik from the animation team for keeping us all entertained.
Big thank you for the animation team for taking good care of my daughter , turbo,Julia ,viki, eslam, from the bar Mahmoud, mohamed, George ,Abanoub, luba from guest relations, chef mohamed I dont want to miss any names thank you all for making our stay fabulous, big thanks for the GM for choosing such nice staff. see you in the very soon.
Firstly the negative points, the lunch menu was quite restricted, dinner service finished at 20.30 and the food at dinner was not to our liking. Not that we are into it but the animation team were very lazy.
The positives were that the whole of the whole hotel is wheelchair accessible, it is small enough that everything is easily accessible
The biggest positive was the staff, they were all friendly and could not do enough to please you
