The Royal Yacht is a smart, modern hotel ideally located in downtown St Helier. There is live entertainment in the hotel bar and the outdoor boulevard terrace area is very popular in the evenings with locals and guests alike. The hotel also has a luxury spa, a fully equipped gym and indoor heated swimming pool (children under 16 not permitted), plus three restaurants including one alfresco. Gourmet cuisine is served in the brasserie style Cafe Zephyr and guests can also enjoy fine dining in the contemporary Restaurant Sirocco, with its oceanic themed dining room and glittering views of the marina and beyond. All bedrooms and public guest areas areas are stylishly decorated and finished to a high standard. A great, central hotel for a weekend break or business trip with all St. Helier's excellent shopping, restaurants, harbour and tourist attractions on the doorstep.

Our trip unfortunately got cancelled because of coronavirus travel restrictions. My review is therefore based on the experience I have had in cancelling my booking and receiving a deposit refund.
When we booked this hotel through booking.com we paid a deposit for our stay but had free cancellation meaning we could cancel at any time and receive a refund.
When we cancelled in agreement with the booking terms and conditions at the beginning of September we then didn’t receive a refund and heard nothing from the The Royal Yacht. I have had to contact them via phone and email on several occasions and was constantly told they weren’t doing refunds right now, despite me being legally entitled to a refund.
Finally on the 24th November they contacted me to say they would now provide a refund but instead of returning the deposits to the correct guests they decided to total them up and refund two different bookings together. Meaning that my deposit was not returned to my bank account and was instead issued to a person also travelling in our party that also had a royal yacht booking. The suggested resolution to this was to request that individual could get in touch and pay the total for the two bookings back and then request a refund for the two bookings separately.
I understand that things are tough for hotels right now, but the attitude of this hotel in relation to cancellations is appalling. I know a lot of people are booking short breaks right now and are taking advantage of free cancellation policies, but I would not recommend doing so with the Royal Yacht because if you do need to cancel you will still be waiting months and months for your refund.
Excellent customer service, great bar and friendly smiley service.
Thoroughly enjoy coming here can’t wait for me next visit. Coping with covid v well - top notch place to stay and be entertained
Nice place, nice atmosphere. However, the bar staff (Bruno) was incredibly rude and when the bill came there was definitely extra drinks on the bill that we didnt order. Leaving the negative end to the night.
