Oasis Atlantico Salinas Sea
O·sis Atl‚ntico Salinas Sea is a beachside hotel in Santa Maria, on the southern part of Cape Verde. The hotel grounds, which have grassed areas and modern sculptures, lead directly onto a sandy stretch of shoreline. You can order a drink and relax on the beach, looking out over the ocean. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and a separate whirlpool surrounded by sun terraces with views out across Santa Maria beach. There's also a separate, shallower pool for children. The hotel's spa has a sauna and a Turkish bath, and you can book a massage. You can take part in aerobics and aqua aerobics classes, or enjoy a game of beach volleyball, pool or darts. The hotel has its own gym. You can also use the tennis courts and hire equipment at a neighbouring hotel. Staff at Oasis Atlantico Salinas Sea host a daily live entertainment show, and there's a kids' disco. There are three bars and four restaurants (one buffet and three ala carte), all of which have outside seating on the terraces or overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Santa Maria is on Sal, one of Cape Verde's most visited islands. The beach is sandy, with its clear waters making it a popular spot among swimmers and snorkelers. The fishing harbour town of Santa Maria is a short stroll from the hotel, offering you more places to eat and drink. As the island of Sal is only 35km long and 12km wide, most of its attractions are easy to reach.
O·sis Atl‚ntico Salinas Sea is 300m from the resort of Santa Maria. This fishing harbour town has pastel-coloured houses and a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Look out for cachupa, the national dish of bean stew, canja (chicken and rice soup) or locally caught fish. Salinas de Pedra Lume is 25km from Santa Maria. You can visit the former salt mines and take a dip in the salty lake which has formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. You can also watch lemon sharks in the wild from the beach at Shark Bay, 20km away. The Blue Eye in the North West is another much-visited attraction. It's a pool formed by lava rocks which at certain times glows a distinctive turquoise colour. The island's capital, Espargos, is in the centre of the island, and has places to shop and eat. There's a choice of cafes and bars around the main square.
The buffet restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers international cuisine. There are three ala carte restaurants, serving an international menu, sushi, and barbecued food and seafood. The hotel has three bars. The lobby bar serves snacks as well as drinks. Coffee is available from the bar 24 hours a day.
The hotel runs a kids' club (ages 4-12) which organises activities such as treasure hunts and shows movies. There's also a playroom and a games room.
Each room has a balcony or terrace. There's high-speed Wi-Fi and satellite HD TV. The rooms have a fridge, air conditioning and central heating.
