Morabeza Hotel is on the sandy beach of Santa Maria on the southern tip of Sal island, in Cape Verde. The long stretch of beach makes Santa Maria a popular destination for holidaymakers, and you might even spot rays and sea turtles in the sea. At Morabeza Hotel, you'll have the choice of three outdoor pools to swim in, or you can take it easy and relax with a drink on the sun terrace. You can also walk around the hotel's gardens or enjoy some fresh seafood at the beach bar. There are three restaurants in the hotel serving a range of international dishes, along with a pool bar and a bar. If you want to enjoy some traditional music and dancing from Cape Verde, there are several evening performances from local musicians and groups every week. If you want to discover eating and drinking spots further afield, you can take a short walk from the hotel to Santa Maria Pier, where you'll be able to see fishermen catching fresh fish to eat that evening. You can continue down the promenade to get a taste of local street life and explore the shops, bars and open-air restaurants in the centre of Santa Maria.
The hotel is on Sal island, which is famous for its sandy beaches, and it sits directly on Santa Maria beach. The centre of Santa Maria town is 100m from the hotel, and here you can find a range of places to eat, drink and shop. If you want to explore Sal beyond Santa Maria, you can take a day trip to see some of the natural wonders of the island. These include the Pedra de Lume, a salt mine in the crater of an active volcano and the Buracona Lagoon, a striking sea cave with blue waters.
The hotel has three a la carte restaurants. You can enjoy live music while you eat at one of the restaurants. For a lunchtime snack, you can head down to the beach restaurant and bar. The hotel also has two more bars to choose from when you fancy a drink.
The hotel has tennis courts, table tennis, a pool table and a gym. You can also play a round of mini golf.
The hotel has three pool areas. On the beach there is the Aquarius bar. If you live in the Bazamore buildings and go to the beach, you have to cross a busy road. If you book for half board and full board sun loungers and parasols on the beach below the hotel are included.
Rooms at Morabeza are bright and airy. They have air conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi and a safe for you to store your valuables.
The hotel has a shop selling beachwear and souvenirs.

Stayed at this hotel three times in the past so was looking forward - however sadly disappointed. Is in a time warp and has hardly changed. No investment on grounds or general updating.Glad we could not get in this time as it is in decline.Lunch was very poor with Caesar salads that were terrible. The lettuce was limp and lifeless, the chicken old tired dry and not good at all even the croutons could not be described as crunchy and dry. Sitting back is courting disaster as other hotels are now far superior.and on their game.
Very clean hotel and grounds. The staff are all really friendly and our room had all the facilities we could need. The food in all of the restaurants was top class and the pools had plenty of loungers always available. They have a pristine 18 hole crazy golf course, archery, tennis, a snooker table, table tennis etc. and all are free to guests. We did the archery lessons twice and can thoroughly recommend. The hotel is right next to the town and all of its restaurants (there are plenty to choose from) and also right next to the beach. Would thoroughly recommend.
We visited the Morabeza with my sister and husband. Two of our party have been ill with sickness , take care when eating raw fish at the beach bar.
We had room 237 with partial sea view. We moved from a room overlooking the pitch and putt at the rear of the hotel because of a filthy looking bathroom.
The 200 block is situated nicely on the hotel grounds, sadly pigeons nest outside our door leaving horrid bird poo to step over every morning. Not thoroughly cleaned up by the maids.
On a positive note the hotel has charm, learn to creole dance with the locals , go to the fish restaurant near the pier only open in the day only called Sical, amazing fish and salad.
Take the hotel village tour, quite an eye opener as to how the locals live.
The cocktails at the beach bar are great, lunch at the beach bar good, avoid the raw fish. And the sea!!!! It’s clear blue and wonderful. Breakfast average , the sparrows will nibble at your food if you leave the table.
If I came again I might book a sea view and upgrade my room although the newest block slightly away from the hotel is adult only and looks soul less.
Staff good 👌
