We had the pleasure of staying at the Marylanza back in 2017. The hotel employees, food, amenities and rooms were all equally excellent. We couldn’t fault anything. We had a beautiful spacious corner room with 2 balconies, the choice of food was great.
We used the spa facilities, went quad biking and can honestly say, we had a really relaxing holiday. So much so we have booked again for July 2021.
We don’t know what will happen, whether Covid conditions will permit us to go, but we really need something to look forward to. Fingers crossed we will be going and if it’s not July, we’ll roll it over until we can travel.
Best hotel we have ever stayed at clean entertainment fantastic food was good and all ways hot can’t wait to come back in feb 2021 booked hope we’re able to come not far from the beach and bars it was nice and quiet when we came so plenty of sun beds around both pools
I never got around to writing a review at the time of my stay but thought I would now that I have more time on my hands. I really liked this hotel. Check in was easy and the welcome drink on arrival was a nice touch. I travelled solo and booked a golf course view which was fantastic. The room was clean and had everything I could of wanted. The balcony was huge - which was a surprise considering I was on my own. Breakfast and evening meals catered for most tastes with plenty of choices available, however you do need to carefully choose your time to go as most people appear to rush there at certain times so I chose to observe this and hang back for more quieter times which felt less overwhelming for me.
Pool areas are pleasant but very busy although I chose to go out most days. I'm not really a sunbather but even if I was it looked unlikely I would be able to get a sunbed around the pool during the day as it was extremely popular and crowded. The huge balcony I had offered little sun which I calculated to be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes each afternoon at a certain time of the day but that's not the hotels fault, its just how it is.
My only real issue was the lack of privacy on the balcony as they are partly low level walls in places with like a privacy type screen attached, which you can see through putting you on full display to your neighbouring rooms which takes the gloss off staying out there too long and being stared at. These would be much better being blocked in to allow more privacy between balconies.
I've read other nasty reviews on here which I feel are completely unfounded in my opinion and I am in full support of Fernando and his staff as they are really pleasant people I found. I would agree this hotel does attract some fairly undesirable guests who feel they have a warped sense of entitlement just because they are holiday. Some of the guests I witnessed at the poolside clearly should of been housed elsewhere as how they even afforded a hotel of the standing of Marylanza is completely beyond me - but as Fernando has quite correctly stated in previous reviews, his 'guests choose the Marylanza and he doesn't choose his guests'. I'm sure if he could then the loud tattooed slobs eating burgers and drinking pint after pint around the poolside and large group of 6 teenagers on their first holiday away from mum and dad who run riot around the hotel intimidating the more peaceful clientele would be refused entry.
I would of really liked to of personally met Fernando and bought him a drink for all his great efforts with this hotel and I did see him frequently walking around the reception and the lobby during my stay but he looked far too busy (or stressed) to be interrupted for casual chit chat from one his guests so I decided against it!
Keep up the great work all!
