Sandos Papagayo (Ex Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort) is an All Inclusive hotel on one of Mexico's sandy beaches. When you stay here, you'll be able to walk a few steps from the hotel to Playacar beach, which is famous for its tropical pale sands and light blue waters. The hotel is surrounded by a natural landscape with the sea on one end and tropical greenery on the other. Its grounds are abundant with palm trees and maintained lawns. Inside the hotel, the interior has been designed with a range of different inspirations, all with a contemporary atmosphere. During your time here, you'll have a choice of nine pools to relax by, four of which are shallow enough for children to swim and splash around in. There's also a whirlpool for adults. As you sunbathe, you can take advantage of the hotel's pool and beach waiter service, and enjoy drinks throughout the day. If you're in need of some pampering, the hotel has a spa where you can relax in a Turkish bath or sauna, or treat yourself to a massage. In the evening, you can enjoy meals in one of the hotel's restaurants. Dinner can be followed by drinks in the bar and entertainment provided by the hotel. This usually includes family-friendly shows and live music.
Sandos Papagayo Beach Resort sits in Mexico's Riviera Maya area, renowned for its white-sand beaches and reef-lined sea beds. The nearest center, Playacar, is 700m from the hotel. The town has a large shopping mall and lots of restaurants. There's also an 18-hole golf course 2.3km away. For day trips, you could head to the popular center of Playa del Carmen, which is 4.2km away. Here you'll find the famous 5th Avenue, a 5km walkway which runs parallel to the beach and is full of shops, bars and street entertainment.
During your stay you can enjoy meals in the main buffet restaurant, or in one of the hotel's A la carte restaurants, which serve Mexican, Italian, French, Brazilian Rodizio and Argentinian steak dishes. There are three bars in total, including a swim-up bar, which all serve drinks and snacks throughout the day.

We love this hotel so much!
We were lucky enough to stay at Sandos for our 8th visit, with Jet2 Holidays. The hotel had opened the day we arrived and closed again the day after we left.
This stay wasn't so different to the others, except everyone ate in the Royal Elite restaurant, were given Royal Elite rooms and obviously there weren't as many guests.
Weather could of been better but meant we were able to do lots of walking. we always enjoy our stays here and the staff were fantastic!
Playa Blanca seemed almost as busy as usual. Love the walk from the town back to the hotel.
Hopefully Sandos will reopen soon.
We have just returned from a fabulous week at this excellent hotel and consider ourselves doubly fortunate - firstly that the holiday was possible at all (the hotel only re-opened the day before we arrived and had to close the day before we left) and secondly that we were so well looked after by the small team of dedicated staff. Owing to the circumstances there was perhaps less than 10% occupancy of the hotel and we were all grouped together in the best rooms and shared the best restaurant (Royal Elite). we had a fabulous room with the best sea view of any we have stayed in. It was such a tonic to wake up to the sound of waves lapping up the beach outside and then to watch the spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean from our balcony. Superb. We love the beaches leading up to Papagayo and the hotel could not be better placed to access these. An easy stroll meant that we could comfortably spend a morning or afternoon on the beaches and get back for lunch or dinner. We love the walk along the promenade at Playa Blanca and here you are right at the beginning of it. We loved walking through the marina, into the heart of the resort and then out past Playa Flamingo towards the lighthouse. We were blessed with 6 sunny days and it was beautifully warm and so were able to swim in the sea and in one of the pools at the hotel. The heated pool (heated in the winter months) was great - hotel pools can often be offputting since they are freezing. Understandably, with the circumstances and so few residents the food was perhaps a little limited but it was always very well presented and there was always something to enjoy. The only disappointment was the soup which was strangely tasteless. All the staff in the restaurant were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We felt so sorry for them that their livelihoods were being so badly affected by the pandemic - nevertheless their focus was entirely on making sure that we were all safe, well looked after and enjoying ourselves. The evening entertainment was great fun in the Canarian Bar - high quality singers who always managed to get people up dancing (with our masks on). Every hotel needs constant maintenance and updating and if you look hard enough you will see things that need doing but the overall impression of the Sandos Papagayo is of a smart, clean and well resourced hotel whose greatest strengths re its incomparable position (if you like walking) ad the brilliant holiday atmosphere the hard working staff mange to create. We wish them all well, hope that they will reopen soon and know that thousands of others will have such a great time there in the future as we did.
What a pleasure to stay at this hotel! The location couldn't be better just at a broad beach (lava) looking at Isla de lobos and Fuerteventura. Climbing a bit to the east will get you at the best beach I have seen sofar, playa Papagayo.
