wow. this is a gorgeous hotel... we got home the day before the flights were stopped.. we were so lucky to have had a great holiday in this fab hotel... the area is gorgeous. we crossed the road to a lovey park that ran alongside the motorway into the shopping area etc.
the reception and bar area leading the huge lofty bar area was bright, very modern and cheery... great cocktails. the walkways to the dining and pools very leafy and cool...
the dining room was very good. excellent menu.. buffet style.. constantly being replenished... staff were lovely and friendly and very efficient...and everything very clean...
our room had a wonderful view over the pools and looking out to the bay... and on the left over towards the hills.
our room was beach themed. and very good, and serviced each day....
lots to do nearby and round and about. we had a wonderful holiday and look forward to going back next year... we very much enjoyed the area and it is very charming....
We just returned from a 1 week stay in one of their King rooms. Checkin was easy, the room was large, which was a plus for my wife who had a wheelchair and a walker with her. Their biggest and most expensive rooms don't have the best views, which is unusual. Our view was a sea view obstructed by palm trees and the hotel itself due to the design of the building. You could improve your chance of a good view from one of the King rooms by opting for a higher floor to get you over the palm trees. We were on the third floor. Fourth floor would probably do it, anything higher definitely.
We were here on an all inclusive plan. They serve 3 meals a day in the main dining area plus they have a snack bar by the lower pool and a lobby bar. Lobby bar closes at 11pm, which was adequate for us. The food was plentiful with a decent variety but mediocre is being kind. They try to do a nice presentation but you can only do so much. The staff offered my wife a handicap badge that they put on a table which would make it easier for her to be seated, which was very kind. They left that table open for us all week. 2 kind of bizarre observations: They only had hot water for tea available at breakfast. You could get it by asking but it wasn't worth the effort. They also didn't have any ketchup in the main dining area but the supply was plentiful at the snack bar. We solved that by bringing a bottle of ketchup up to the room and using it at meals for the week.
The pools were nice. My wife has a lot of trouble walking but she can swim and the pools were deep enough for her to do laps but not so deep that she couldn't stand up if she wanted to. This made for a nice combination of swimming and walking, one of the main reasons we came to Gran Canaria in the first place since we already live in a seaside Mediterranean resort town. We already have the views and the palm trees but the water isn't warm enough to swim in like it was here.
They had entertainment in the evenings, 2 hours with a 15 or 20 minute break halfway through, which was plenty considering the quality. We would finish off our evening at the lobby bar then head up to the room.
If you wanted to go there the beach was right in front of the hotel. Too much trouble for us since my wife is in a wheelchair but they also have a promenade you can walk along. If you go left it's only about 5 minutes until the end but if you go right it's much longer. Not much to do besides walk and enjoy the sunshine and sea view but good enough for us.
The bottom line: decent location, friendly and helpful staff, nice room, adequate pools. Everything else entirely forgettable.
We have previously stayed at a lopesan hotel in maspalomas which compared to this hotel is far better but also far more expensive. So decided to try this hotel and area instead.
On arrival to the hotel you come straight to a lift which then takes you down a floor to the reception. Checked in with no issues and wrist bands put on and given our room keys. Our room was on the first floor and was east facing. The room was lovely. Like a little suite. Lots of room cupboard space tea making facilities big bathroom robes and a nice balcony. Bed and pillows big and comfy too. Could not fault the room.
The hotel itself is right on the beach. The beach however is black sand stoney and somewhat dirty but this is no reflection on the hotel.
There are 2 pools and 2 jacuzzis. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and tables and chairs to sit on.
The pool bar is nice too serving decent beer and cava. However the cocktails were not nice out of a machine.
The food is what you expect for an all inclusive. Breakfast was eggs bacon toast beans continental etc and yes sometimes random food at breakfast garlic carrots or broccoli??!! Plus cakes yoghurts jams etc
Lunch there was always soup bread pizza chips salad fish meat rice etc and the same really for dinner with an array of cakes for dessert. At lunch and dinner you order your drinks and the staff then bring your drinks to your table.
We ate at the Italian restaurant within the hotel. Food here was delicious.
Entertainment usually consisted of a singer of some sort starting at 8pm finishing at 10pm. Throughout the day the entertainment staff also do yoga pilates and water aerobics.
The hotel is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel mainly consisted of German guests and older guests with the average age of around 75 years so in the evening around 9.30pm the pool bar area was very quiet.
There is also not much to see or do in the area so spent a couple of nights going into playa del ingles and maspalomas.
If you are looking for a week away in the sun for total rest and relaxation and peace and quiet enjoying ok food and a few beverages with friendly staff then this is a great hotel for you. Plus its adults only.
This is definitely a 3 star hotel and although I prefer the hotel at maspalomas I would also not hesitate to return to this hotel.
Would also like to say thankyou to the hotel for their little note and the bottle of wine as it was my partners birthday. Really thoughtful and kind.
Thankyou to all at the hotel for a lovely chilled out weeks holiday and hope to book again soon.
