Lopesan Baobab Resort

I ignored the reviews before booking and I regret it. I could have stayed in many other much nicer 4 star properties for cheaper and better service. I have never reviewed before but felt so short changed I decided to. I hope the team reply on here with genuine replies esp to my final issue rather than something generic

Pro's - Beautiful breathtaking property, COVID secure, very clean, some staff very nice such as reception and housekeeping

Cons -

• very dark in hotel areas and room - quite gloomy,
• treated like SECOND CLASS CITIZENS compared to "unique" guests (and even Unique guests are not happy.
• arrived after a long trip to be handed room keys and NO HELP WITH BAGS just pointed in the right direction and had to lug bag up to 2nd floor by myself in a 5 star hotel, shocking never happened before
• absolutely no nice extras like normal 5 star NO TEA AND COFFEE FACILITIES. had to pay for a coffee machine and pods, It came with no sugar or milk or even cups. When I asked for cups they tried to charge me for the cups not very 5 star
• No iron or ironing board
• no toiletries apart from one pack of shower gel screwed to wall which could not be reached from bath
• ROOM SERVICE APPALLING. Rude on phone. Hardly ever available,
• No ability to call reception, They do not answer tried 30 times in a row, Any questions you have to walk down there
• Buffet food is fine but pool food horrendous. No decent options at all. very basic.
• very noisy awake all night by babies in other rooms. Not their fault but not ideal
• waiter service by pool inadequate hardly ever can find someone
• manager refuses to engage with guests and you can not escalate issues

WORST BIT HOWEVER WAS BEING TREATED WITH CONTEMPT BY THE BAR STAFF LAST NIGHT MONDAY 14TH. ARRIVED 20 MINS BEFORE CLOSING (ADVISED BY RECEPTION THESE TIMES). ANDREAS TOOK ONE LOOK AND MYSELF AND MY PARTNER (NICELY DRESSED AND POLITE. MY PARTNER IS OF CARRIBEAN DESCENT DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS) AND REFUSED TO SERVE US. HE SAID HE HAD PACKED UP THE BAR AND WOULD GIVE US A BEER BUT NOTHING ELSE EVEN THOUGH SEVERAL SPANISH GUESTS SAT DRINKING COCTAILS. WE ASKED HIM TO RECONSIDER BUT HE TURNED HIS BACK AND ANOTHER EMABARASSED BAR STAFF MEMBER AND THEN THE RECEPTIONIST TRIED TO REASON WITH HIM BUT HE SAID HE DID NOT CARE AND HE HAD PACKED UP THE BAR AND HE IS NOT SERVING US. EMBARRASSING FOR US AND RUINED OUR LAST NIGHT, WE HAD RETURNED EARLY TO THE HOTEL TO HAVE A FINAL COCKTAIL. THE OTHER STAFF WERE MORTIFIED BUT THEY SAID NO MANAGER IS AVAILABLE AT NIGHT SO WE BASICALLY LIKE IT OR LUMP IT. APPARENTLY ANDREAS DECIDES IF HE LIKES THE LOOK OF YOU AND CAN BE BOTHERED TO SERVE YOU

Stayed at the hotel for 1 week at New Year. Very beautiful hotel and garden.

Many pools only one of them heated. Serviceminded friendly staff.

Breakfast is ok, dinner food not good (except for New years eve).

Many children at the hotel, it would be nice to have a pool reservated for adults only and also adults onlyrestaurang area.

No shows only DJ that plaeyed exactly the same songs every night. Very cold at bar.

We stayed for 7 nights during Christmas Time. We chose the hotel for few main reasons: Kids activities- Kids Club, Kids Pool and Slides and Gym. Upon arrival, we were informed that non of the above is operative due to COVID circumstances however, nothing was mentioned on the hotel’s official website.

Cons: no Kids area, no kids club, limited kids activities, poor food, poor freshness of food, no gym, poor outdoor gym activity. Dark rooms, no walls isolation- you forced wake up with the neighbor’s family baby at night and forced to wake up when your neighbors family in the morning. No body lotions, no conditioner, no shampoo, no kettle, no hot drinks.

Pros: beautiful resort, clean and beautiful gardens.
