Lopesan Baobab Resort

During your stay at Lopesan Baobab Resort, you can splash in the pool, relax on the sun terrace and admire the hotel's miniature waterfall. The hotel has two buffet restaurants and two a la carte restaurants. Younger guests can enjoy daily activities at the hotel-run kids' club while you relax. If you want to take part in some sporting activities, you can use the tennis court or the mini golf course at the hotel's sister resort, Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort Corallium Spa & Casino, which is within walking distance.

Varadero shopping centre is 300m away from the hotel, while the nearest beach, Dunas de Maspalomas, is 700m away. Yumbo Centrum, a huge shopping centre in Playa del InglÈs, is 4.5km from the hotel. Here, you find over 200 shops including clothes, shoes, perfume, jewellery and electronics, as well as many places to eat and drink. At night, it becomes a lively entertainment venue with clubs and bars to suit many different tastes. For a day trip, you could travel to the centre of the island to see the Roque Nublo, a rock that stands 67m tall and was formed by a volcanic eruption around 4.5 million years ago. You can reach the rock by taking a guided hike through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Once you're there, you'll be rewarded with impressive views of the island below, as well as Spain's highest mountain, Mount Teide, which is on the neighbouring island of Tenerife.

The hotel's two buffet restaurants are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two a la carte restaurants serve African and Mediterranean dishes. If want to relax outside with a drink in between swimming and sunbathing sessions, you'll have two pool bars to choose from.

If you want to keep up with your fitness routine, you can work out at the hotel's gym. For some downtime, you can head to the spa at the hotel's sister resort, Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort Corallium Spa & Casino.

The hotel has a big and snazzy sun terrace with several pools, among others one child pool and a small pool for the youngest guests.

The rooms at Lopesan Baobab Resort are bright with African-inspired interiors. All have air conditioning and a balcony or terrace. Cots are available.

Impressive but not 5 star
Jan 2021 |

Returned recently from Xmas and New Year holiday. Chose Lopesan on the spur of the moment due to cruise cancellation. Didnt realise it was a family hotel (We were two adults in our 70,s - 80,s. However that was not a problem. The double standard room was just OK but a 5 star hotel should have tea/coffee facilities and maybe at a minimum have water/cava on arrival. The rest of the hotel grounds, restaurants and bars, were clean and well serviced with excellent staff. The breakfast buffet was generally excellent A big variety of international and continental food. However all was let down by inconsistent Dinner buffet, variety was excellent, fish very good, meats not so good, particularly entrecote very poor but invariably food was warm or cold and plates always cold. One of my regular 4 star hotels in Malaga area would always have dinner plate containers where they were kept warm for serving. Xmas and New Year Gala Buffets showed what could be done, above excellent. Slightly amazed at the lack of adult guests in the Richard Burton bar before and after dinner. Most nights my partner and I were (for a fortnight) probably the only people that had a dance. Also my bar bill certainly contributed to the profits of the hotel. Just improve dinner buffet and we will be back.

One of the best hotel in the island and with one of the best architecture I have ever seen but ...
Jan 2021 |

Positive points architecture wow ,you feel like in the jungle for adults and for kids is amazing, all the staff are very nice , big thanks to the manager of the reception very professional, Food from room service is good. Negative points :the pools are cold(my point of. View we are freezing is about 22 I think ) hot pools must be about 27/ to feel good especially in January when is cold outside 🥶, the kids pool is closed because of covid but the others no ( understandable) only the buffet in the principle restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner (in my opinion the food isn’t wow and not many choice ) 5 hotels you must give fresh juice and fresh smoothies ( you can get fresh orange with a extra cost). not avocado not every day salmon is really like basics basics food ( I hope again all this is because about the covid ) The rooms are nice the tv isn’t a late generation but ok , in the standard and double pool view rooms you don’t have kettle (you need to ask to have one ) coffee machine and kit of bathroom (shower cap , body lotion, etc ) mini bar empty. The room service is extra charge (5euro by the way the first time I’ve payed for this ) thé you order something just to know you paye , I had travel all around the world and I also currently work for a 5 stars hôtel, if one thing is the most important for customers and of course for ME and my family is the quality of food, drinks and the service that you get for your money ( 5must be 5* for A to Z , my baby wanted some food at the pool but they told me if I want sandwich or salad ( for a baby is complicated to give this kind of food ) the for having something like a little snack Nugget fried potatoes soup, pasta etc you must go to the buffet 😒 really this service should be everywhere. I will come back for sur with my family maybe in November if everything is fished with the covid and I hope that I wouldn’t be disappointed like I was a bit know but I will say maybe all this BECAUSE OF This horrible virusCovid . Thank you Baobab For bring us the jungle life only at 3 hours of plane from home .

Beautiful but 3 star service at best and some very upsetting treatment
Jan 2021 |

I ignored the reviews before booking and I regret it. I could have stayed in many other much nicer 4 star properties for cheaper and better service. I have never reviewed before but felt so short changed I decided to. I hope the team reply on here with genuine replies esp to my final issue rather than something generic

Pro's - Beautiful breathtaking property, COVID secure, very clean, some staff very nice such as reception and housekeeping

Cons -

  • very dark in hotel areas and room - quite gloomy,
  • treated like SECOND CLASS CITIZENS compared to "unique" guests (and even Unique guests are not happy.
  • arrived after a long trip to be handed room keys and NO HELP WITH BAGS just pointed in the right direction and had to lug bag up to 2nd floor by myself in a 5 star hotel, shocking never happened before
  • absolutely no nice extras like normal 5 star NO TEA AND COFFEE FACILITIES. had to pay for a coffee machine and pods, It came with no sugar or milk or even cups. When I asked for cups they tried to charge me for the cups not very 5 star
  • No iron or ironing board
  • no toiletries apart from one pack of shower gel screwed to wall which could not be reached from bath
  • ROOM SERVICE APPALLING. Rude on phone. Hardly ever available,
  • No ability to call reception, They do not answer tried 30 times in a row, Any questions you have to walk down there
  • Buffet food is fine but pool food horrendous. No decent options at all. very basic.
  • very noisy awake all night by babies in other rooms. Not their fault but not ideal
  • waiter service by pool inadequate hardly ever can find someone
  • manager refuses to engage with guests and you can not escalate issues

WORST BIT HOWEVER WAS BEING TREATED WITH CONTEMPT BY THE BAR STAFF LAST NIGHT MONDAY 14TH. ARRIVED 20 MINS BEFORE CLOSING (ADVISED BY RECEPTION THESE TIMES). ANDREAS TOOK ONE LOOK AND MYSELF AND MY PARTNER (NICELY DRESSED AND POLITE. MY PARTNER IS OF CARRIBEAN DESCENT DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS) AND REFUSED TO SERVE US. HE SAID HE HAD PACKED UP THE BAR AND WOULD GIVE US A BEER BUT NOTHING ELSE EVEN THOUGH SEVERAL SPANISH GUESTS SAT DRINKING COCTAILS. WE ASKED HIM TO RECONSIDER BUT HE TURNED HIS BACK AND ANOTHER EMABARASSED BAR STAFF MEMBER AND THEN THE RECEPTIONIST TRIED TO REASON WITH HIM BUT HE SAID HE DID NOT CARE AND HE HAD PACKED UP THE BAR AND HE IS NOT SERVING US. EMBARRASSING FOR US AND RUINED OUR LAST NIGHT, WE HAD RETURNED EARLY TO THE HOTEL TO HAVE A FINAL COCKTAIL. THE OTHER STAFF WERE MORTIFIED BUT THEY SAID NO MANAGER IS AVAILABLE AT NIGHT SO WE BASICALLY LIKE IT OR LUMP IT. APPARENTLY ANDREAS DECIDES IF HE LIKES THE LOOK OF YOU AND CAN BE BOTHERED TO SERVE YOU
