Gloria Palace Amadores is a family-friendly hotel with views over the sea in Puerto Rico, a former fishing village on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The area is a favourite with visitors for its beach, shops, bars and restaurants, as well as its access to a number of family attractions. The hotel is a single building with eight floors, and it has a 24-hour reception, as well as Wi-Fi all over the hotel area. Outside, you'll find a sun terrace and two outdoor pools, with another smaller pool for children. If you like to stay active on holiday, you can play tennis on the hotel's courts or visit the hotel gym for a workout. There's a sauna for post-gym relaxation, and you can get treatments in the hotel spa. A pool table and table tennis are available to play friendly matches in the games room. You can eat at the hotel's buffet restaurant, and enjoy a drink from the pool bar. An elevator takes you from the hotel to the seafront, where you can relax on the sand or explore this popular area. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop within walking distance of the hotel for days and nights out. You also have the option to take a short drive or bus ride to other nearby resorts such as Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, Puerto de Mogan and Las Palmas.
Playa de Amadores beach is 800m from the hotel, and you can get there either in an elevator or by walking down a hill. Around the beach are shops, bars and restaurants so you can stay there throughout the day or take a walk in the evening to find somewhere for dinner. The Europa shopping centre is 600m away, with a selection of shops and places to eat, and the busy Puerto Rico shopping centre is 2km from the hotel with an even wider choice. Around Puerto Rico you'll find plenty of attractions, with water parks for kids and seafood restaurants where you can enjoy the local catch. You can take a boat from Puerto Rico to spot dolphins in a glass-bottom catamaran. If you want to explore further afield, you can catch a bus to Las Palmas, which is 50km away on the other side of the island.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all available at the hotel's buffet restaurant. There are six bars at the hotel, including a pool bar. If you prefer to eat nearby, there are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Our stay was September / October 2019.
We had better for this price range but it is a good Hotel and it deserves a better rating than average.
A recommendation during this period.
Staff is very friendly, the food is good to very good and the rooms are spacious and clean.
We chekked in 27.Feb. and had 14 nice days in this Hotel. We had asked for a room in Blook 3, but not free room for us there. So the nice woman in the reception placed us in a room in Blook 4. A room with sunbeds on the balcony and a perfekt view to the ocean, and the sunset in the evening.
The second day we got a surprise from the reception to the room, an ice bucket and a botle chanpage. Very pleasant.
Very good service in the restaurante in the breakfast and dinner in the evening, pleasant waiters.
We also was offered Paela and drinks free in the Pool bar.
We will come back next year!
Thank you, Trude & Sigurd
Now that we are safely home after an absolute emotional rollercoaster with airline flights being cancelled during the Spanish Lockdown, I feel I have to write and record the outstanding professionalism afforded to us by "all staff" at Gloria Palace Amadores, which was subsequetly extended to us at the same level at Gloria Palace Royal for a 2 night stay.
We arrived for our 16th visit to this amazing hotel on Thursday 12th March. As always a smooth and pleasant check in with a glass of bubbles and we made our way to our amazing room on the top level of Block 1 and we were looking forward to our 2 week holiday ahead. This hotel is such a great base for walks to Amadores Beach to the right of the hotel and Puerto Rico, Anfi and Arguineguin t the left. One of the many reasons we keep coming back.
We thought we would have a lazy day at the pool on the Frid/Sat and then start to get out of the hotel on the Sunday.
Unfortunately since the Canary Isles are governed by Spanish Law we were put into immediate Lockdown on Sat 14th and we could not leave the premises other than to go to a supermarket or pharmacy. No great hardship we thought when we were in such a fab hotel and we were all inclusive. We were allowed to access the pool areas for one day and then unfortunately Spanish Law confirmed that we were then no longer to do that.
That is when it started getting difficult for the guests but this of couse was no fault of the hotels, they had to comply with Spanish Law.
This is where I have to applaud the hotel staff. These guys were losing their jobs for the forseeable future until such times as tourists come back. Gran Canaria needs us but at the same time it was the tourists bringing in the COVID-19. All hotels were to close by 24th March.
Each and every member of staff continued to do their jobs to the highest standard with smiles on their faces and such a positive attitude. They did everything to protect the guests for what was an extremely stressful time for all on the Island. I cannot imagine getting through the stress I felt as we waited on our details for a rescue flight to get us home without them - thank you. from the bottom of my hearts
The Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso said goodbye to all their guests on Thurs 19th March. A group of us were being transferred to the Gloria Palace Royal till we got our flights home. We had 2 nights there - again exceptional staff.
The emotions as the remaining staff came out to wave off the guests on that final day is a day I will never ever forget. There were so many tears and I had such overwhelming pride for these people. Very humbling.
With special thanks to Franklin & Zuzzana at reception, to Oscar, Dilsson, Dani, Mercedes, Edita, Jonathan, Cristina, Alejandro and Alexis for keeping the drinks flowing, we thank you. To Luis & Cristina, Mounir, Buzi, Tito (amazing dancing waiter), Maria, Guillermo, Nereida and Armando for keeping us fed, to the amazing performers for keeping us entertained - we thank you from the bottom of hearts!!!
To all who read this - when all this passes and you need a holiday, treat yourself to a stay at this hotel. It will not disappoint - under extremely difficult times, this visit excelled in with their professionalism. We will see you in December already booked, thats how much
