We stayed here all inclusive for one week. The hotel was lovely, though we checked in late at night when we initially arrived. The room was fairly dated, but large enough and clean. Though we did get a horrendous ant infestation, which we called reception to resolve. Half a day later, no help, so we snook ant powder out of the open store room opposite to deal with the matter ourselves.
The pools were lovely, though cold. And it was very much a lounge about holiday, not so great for adventurous families like ourselves. Many topless tourists both on site, and at the beach, which can be uncomfortable as a family.
The food is as expected for an all inclusive buffet in Spain. OK choice, though often the same each night, so you ended up eating the same meals daily. Alcohol is cheap and nasty compared to what we're used to, but edible. My husband was sick the first 2 days, claiming it was the food/ drink, though I think it was sunstroke as he wasn't sensible when we arrived. The sun is strong, wear factor 50 guys!
The first few days went OK, we walked down to the beach and back no problem, and wandered around Jandia. Though it is a relatively step hill for older people up to the hotel. There is a free bus though. We really enjoyed the free bus to the Oasis Zoo - highly recommend going!
My son went to the kids club the odd day and did like it,though we preferred enjoying time together. The staff, however, let my son go to our hotel room alone when we were elsewhere, and it just so happened I spotted him, he was only 5 at the time. This concerned me, for my son's wellbeing, as he should not have been unsupervised.
Futhermore, on day 3 my mum broke her leg, so it instantly made the holiday difficult, as molbilty was poor. From then we were confined to the hotel, though the staff were amazing at moving her room and helping her as best as possible. We hired her a mobility scooter for the remainder of the holiday to get around. However, we were getting bored and fed up and couldn't wait to go home.
Vanessa at the top bar was marvellous, a true asset to the hotel. And the little stray cat outside (black and white) used to like us smuggling him fish at lunch time. Overall, I won't be returning to Fuerteventura as a whole, or atleast the South of it anyway. As it didn't offer the fun-filled adventure we were hoping for. Great if you like lying in the sun for a week, however! Though it was windy and cold on an evening.
We will award 5 stars because this hotel was one of the first in the zone what has open the doors for the tourism after this corona barrier. Otherwise everything was closed all around but after a few days it was getting better every day. We came with the first wave of tourists on 1.7.2020 and did not demand that everything was perfect but got what we expected: beautiful beaches with few people, a mass hotel only 10% occupied. The big pool, 1 of 3 was even filled with water and we really recovered well. Fuerteventura with its big beaches is always worth a trip.
The only points of critic: The friendliness of the staff, especially of the older people at the reception counter was partly not present. Only the younger ladies served the customers fast and friendly. Something like this is simply not possible in a Barcelo 4 stars hotel.
Then I am most of all concerned about the bad sleeping in old beds, here, Barcelo should change something very fast, as I do not go on holiday in order to wake up every morning with backache.
on the other hand, we were completely satisfied. After the first week the hotel was about 60% full, with many German tourists who finally came back. But that was already too much for us and we went back home to the island Gran Canaria. So thanks to the Barcelo Group that, in contrast to the arrogant Tui Group, they have made a big contribution to the return of tourism to our islands!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here so much so we booked up to attend again July 2020 with another family we met whilst there 2019 but unfortunately Coronovirus had something to say about that! Hotel was massive, plenty to do. I would recommend the Boot & Ball if you're venturing out for a pint. The landlord was lovely.
Stayed 2019 (catching up with reviews whilst in lockdown!) We would've highly recommended at the time
