Iberostar Playa Gaviotas is an All Inclusive hotel in Jandia, a popular seaside resort on the island of Fuerteventura. The family-friendly hotel offers a wide range of daily activities for kids and adults, and is a short walk from Jandia Beach, a white-sand beach with calm waters for swimming. A short drive from the hotel you can find Jandia Golf Course and the resort centre of Morro Jable, home to a number of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has three pools, including an infinity pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, an activity pool and a dedicated pool for children. Balinese beds on the palm tree-dotted sun terrace provide the opportunity to relax, while a gym and organised activities including beach volleyball, football, tennis, aerobics and basketball allow you to stay active throughout your holiday. If you're looking to unwind, you can use the heated whirlpool or neighbouring hotel spa, which has a sauna and Turkish bath. At the spa you relax with a massage or beauty treatment, such as a deep cleansing facial, manicure or pedicure. For younger guests, Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has a kids and teen club where children can make new friends and enjoy face painting and water games, as well as a games room with consoles. Six evenings of the week, the hotel puts on family-friendly entertainment such as live shows and karaoke. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas has five bars and two restaurants, a buffet and a' la carte restaurant, that offer international, Italian, and Mediterranean cuisines. A children's menu is available during lunch and dinner, and drinks and snacks are available throughout the day.
Iberostar Playa Gaviotas is a 200m walk from Jandia Beach and 4km from Morro Jable, a former fishing village on the southern tip of the island. From Morro Jable you can visit Playa del Matorral, a wide sandy beach with clear waters backed by greenery, which has a lighthouse and the skeleton of a sperm whale on display. Jandia Natural Park is a 13km drive from the hotel and is filled with natural pools, sand dunes, and native flora and fauna. Costa Calma is 18km away from the hotel and offers a bustling nightlife with many shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. If you fancy a day trip, the island capital of Puerto Rosario is an 86km drive from the hotel. Here you can browse designer boutiques at Central Comercial las Rotondas, admire modern art at the outdoor sculpture park, learn about local history at the Miguel de Unamuno House Museum or relax on the sands of Playa Chica.
At Iberostar Playa Gaviotas, you can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the buffet restaurant, or have food at the tapas bar, which opens five nights a week. The hotel's bars are open until late and serve snacks, soft drinks, and local and international beers, wines, spirits and cocktails.
At Iberostar Playa Gavitos children can enjoy the water slides at the kids pool, play on the playground, or dance at their own disco.

We originally booked one of the sister hotels in the same Iberostar complex, but were bumped to the Gaviotas Park because after we'd booked the UK government introduced a self-isloation policy for people returning from all Spanish territories (despite the fact that there was far less CV in the Canary Islands than mainland Spain, and less in mainland Spain than in England) which hammered the Canary Islands travel industry.
As a result of the above, this wasn't quite as upmarket as the one we originally booked, and not all facilities were available, such as some of the restaurant options, the bowling alley, etc.
However, the staff were all friendly and helpful; there were young kids in our party who Alicia and Marko from the animation team helped entertain (with a kids' disco which the 4 year old absolutely loved, games in the pool, and aqua spin for the adults); the rooms were very clean and with good showers; reception helped us move rooms to keep all our party (there under separate bookings from different parts of the country) together; the bar staff were happy to mix cocktails until midnight, and the food was plentiful and varied, with a regular core but several different freshly grilled options at the pool café each day and each night in the buffet restaurant. The food on Christmas day was excellent, with a wide range of fresh seafood (as per Canary Islands tradition), plus more conventional turkey etc. for those who wanted a taste of home.
Our room and the bar had beautiful views out to sea, with the occasional cruise ship lit up in the distance at night, clear skies and bright stars, and good weather throughout. Even when the wind was blowing it was warm enough to sunbathe.
For balance, they closed the bar an hour early on Christmas eve without telling us, there were a few of the tiny bugs in the en-suite that you often find in hot countries, and it wasn't quite up to the All-Inclusive standard you would see in Mexico (e.g. no optics/teamaking facilities in the room, no water sports activities on the beach below). The hotel could also do with better signage as it's a bit of a maze, built on various floors along and into the cliffs, and not all lifts stop at all floors.
There's not much within an hours drive if you want to go off campus, but we knew that before we went.
Overall, good value and excellent service, they did well to stay open at all in the circumstances, and we would go again for R&R / winter sun when the restrictions are lifte
We spent 1 week at this amazing hotel. Everything was great from the beginning to the end. We booked a side ocean-view room but got upgraded for free to the full ocean-view one. Due to covid unfortunately not all the facilities were open, such as the bowling or the evening theater. These are also understandable in the current situation. However the food, the drinks and the service was excellent. Cleanliness and hygiene was top-notch.
The animators Lukas and Alicia were really entertaining and always created a great atmosphere.
Would be happy to be back another time too.
Such a great persons, Luca and Alicja, so warm, young and optymistic, lovely People! Best experience at the front line, with mask, but still positive and kind!
See you next time for sure! Thx for everything :) xxx
