R2 Rio Calma Hotel

Canary Islands Fuerteventura Costa Calma
1801 reviews

R2 Rio Calma Hotel is set in a flower-filled garden, mimicking its oasis-like surroundings on the Costa Calma, Fuerteventura. This is the second-largest resort on the island and your nearest beach, complete with shallow, warm water, is steps away from the hotel. There are three outdoor pools to choose from, including a relaxing lagoon and a heated infinity pool where you can look out over the sea. Here, you can lounge on the sun terrace with a refreshing drink. The buffet restaurant is open for three meals a day, with a different cuisine every evening such as Italian, Spanish and Asian. Alternatively, you could book a table at the a la carte restaurant. There are several bars to choose between, including two pool bars, so you never have to walk far from your favoured sunbathing spot. The lobby bar is open all day for soft drinks, hot drinks, beer and cocktails. In the evenings there's a pub, and a little later you can enjoy the disco bar, which is open until late. During the day you can keep active at the gym. You could also take part in one of the organised fitness classes, or play outdoor sports such as volleyball and football. For a little pampering, you might like to visit the indoor spa area, with a Turkish bath, a steam room and a sauna, or treat yourself to a facial and a manicure. The hotel puts on nightly entertainment including live shows and music all year round, and there are two kids' clubs to keep children entertained during the day and in the evenings.

Playa de Sotavento is 500m from the hotel, and is 9km of sweeping, sandy beach that stretches out to sea when the tide is out. It's a favourite with visitors for swimming, walking and sunbathing. The sand barriers further offshore create a shallow lagoon, making it a popular place for water-based sports. The sandy Costa Calma coastline, backed by hotels, palms and flowers, is 1km away, with its calm, shallow waters attracting plenty of families. At low tide you can walk between several other connected sandy coves. The best view of the beach and its lagoons in the sand is from the large viewpoint overlooking the cove. In the resort itself, you'll find restaurants, pubs and bars, as well as two shopping centres. The most popular is the Sotavento shopping centre, which has plenty of clothes outlets, a supermarket and souvenir shops, while the other stores are in a covered market.

The hotel's buffet restaurant opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes familiar food such as hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza for children. You can choose to dine al fresco. The a la carte restaurant serves Canarian and international cuisine, and is open four evenings a week.

There's a shallower kids' pool, and adults' activities include aerobics classes and darts. There are also tennis courts where you can play a match.

The hotel's colonial-style rooms, with dark wood and tile interiors, each have a minibar, a satellite TV and a balcony or terrace.

Quality & Price are excellent!
Sep 2020 |

Quality for price were excellent and much better than I would have imagined. If this has something to do only under "corona-circumstances" I cannot verify but here we go:

The restaurant - also with beautiful outside area for breakfast/dinn...
