Had a great holiday, staff were lovely, hotel was clean if a bit tired. Entertainment team were fab. Everybody was really friendly and you could tell they were trying their best to make it all as normal as possible despite the Covid-19 situation / restrictions. Really lovely restful break, would recommend to anybody.
Stayed here for 15 nights over Xmas break but it really wasn’t the hotel for us.
-was given a lovely little cake and a bottle of bubbly on my birthday, very nice surprise.
Aware staff can’t control people and people clearly can be are selfish, complacent and get in ‘holiday mode’, but hand washing and mask wearing should be monitored every single mealtime and action/ challenge taken if it doesn’t happen, but besides one occasion (in 14 days ! ), when I saw one female waitress tell a lady who was at the buffet with no mask, it was allowed to continue. The problem is the buffet is too open with no controlled entry and exit points, unsupervised children are allowed to run riot there and no senior staff are there to observe and take action. Nearly every mealtime I saw unsafe selfish behaviour. It was very shocking and made us feel very uncomfortable and very unsafe. This is our 6th hotel during this pandemic and the first time I have seen anything like this.
I know these are challenging times and it is difficult for staff (I work in tourism so i know) but in my view, this hotel needs to urgently improve their Covid health and safety protocols. Of course, I would not stay again, we did end up leaving a few days early (positively was given a refund for those days), but a disappointing stay and pleased to have moved onto a different hotel.
The overall stay was pleasant considering the covid situation which makes any holiday less comfortable. The hotel needs a bit of uplifting, many broken and used bits and pieces. The beds are not very comfortable and showers always flood the bathroom due to bad glass door installation. The food was decent but not great, very repetitive especially on new year's eve where better things were expected.
The highlight of the hotel was the animation team especially Carolina from kids club and Micheal and Michaela who were very kind and did a great job. The shows were good but the Rock band/Abba group were absolutely amazing.
The team at reception were very unprofessional and aggressive and unhelpful. Information was wrong and they only did a minimum which is a pity as it is the first contact at the hotel and it is not welcoming.
