Right next to the sea, this hotel is situated close to the Cala Mondragó nature park in Cala d'Or and provides the perfect base for exploring the scores of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs in the area, less than 500 m from the building. The airport is about 60 km away. The hotel offers rooms with satellite TV, air-conditioning, safe and fully installed bathrooms. As an alternative to the beach, the hotel provides heated freshwater pool, with a paddling pool and a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. The more active vacationers can stay in shape in the gym or work on their backhand on the nearby tennis courts. To unwind and relax muscles and mind after a day, guests can dip into the Jacuzzi, work up a sweat in the sauna or employ the services of the professional masseuses.

Choose your board basis
A sea view room with half board was nearly €300 (more than most 5 star hotels in Mallorca charge), so I had high expectations. I chose this hotel in the Cala d’Or area because it was family run and promised good food.
No more than a handful of rooms were occupied (obvious because most rooms had the balcony doors left open for rooms to air). Nevertheless the first room offered had only a second line sea view, with views of the road behind the hotel from one window and of the sea in the distance with other buildings in between from the other window. The second room offered was better, but as with all 3rd floor sea view rooms the balconies are narrow with views obstructed by the concrete walls when sitting. Better rooms with large balconies on the floor below were available but the front desk claimed the hotel was busy - which was patently untrue. Note all “sea view” rooms only offer a side sea view because of the alignment of the hotel along the cove.
The room was basic in the extreme - there was no coffee maker or kettle, no drinking water, no glasses or cups for your own drinks, no bathroom amenities other than a bar of soap and a liquid gel dispenser in the shower. The towels were ancient & thin.
The main restaurant was closed for dinner, so the meal was served in the beach bar. The meal was disappointing. Service was basic - cheap paper napkins, no bread offered, loud music playing. A dried fish salad starter was bland and uninteresting, a main of sole meunière (€5 extra) was served with a very plain undressed salad and plain boiled potatoes. The whole experience fell a long way short of even the most basic expectations for a hotel which claims good food. Breakfast the next morning was no better. Other hotels had tried very hard to offer a good breakfast choice, with assorted meat and cheese platters, and baskets of bread and cakes provided as standard to every table with hot food to order. Here every single item had to be ordered individually. The orange juice was the cheapest you could imagine, and summed up the food experience at Hotel Cala d’Or. I had far better food and service at a 3 star hotel at less than half the price.
I’m struggling to find much positive to say about this hotel. It is in a good location on one of the more attractive coves in Cala d’Or, with direct beach access.
Unable to face another uninspiring dinner, I checked out after 1 night and went elsewhere.
We were due to be busting thus year but decided not to travel abroad just yet.We had flights booked with Easy Jet and were able to move them to next September at no extra cost so I then contacted Hotel Cala D’or and was amazed to be told that not only was it no problem to rebook for next September but they wouldn’t charge any more.It is not there fault that I have chosen not to travel and quite expected to pay 2021prices.
What a wonderful gesture and if you’ve never been it’s a little gem,but don’t tell everyone.Thank you.
Loved this hotel, it was clean and airy, with a relaxing ambience. It’s position is amazing, in its own cove, with a sea view. The beach isn’t huge, we stayed first week in October so it wasn’t packed, but imagine it would be in the main season. There is a small grassy area under trees, behind the beach, so some shade is available. Lovely pool at the hotel. Room very comfortable and adequate, quite spacious with small fridge, took our own travel kettle! We were staying bed and breakfast, but ate dinner at the restaurant twice, one a la Carte meal and one a set menu, both very tasty. Views of the sea from the restaurant, lovely for breakfast in the sunshine sitting at the outside area. Staff were very helpful. We booked a massage treatment whilst there which was very professional and pleasant. A stroll into the town area, where there are plenty of options to eat out and a short walk to the beautiful port area with more eateries. A thoroughly relaxing holiday.
