An ideal vacation spot 30 minutes from Marrakech. All the exclusivity of the place is summed up in its name Kasbah Agounsane & Spa. Kasbah for diving in Berber country, 30 minutes from Marrakech. Spa because in Morocco more than anywhere else well-being goes through rituals of care and divine massages. Hotel because, of course, you will find there all the services of a seasoned house in the reception of travelers, and in particular elegant rooms.

A beautiful spot in a tranquil setting

After being let down last minute with a booking we had at another hotel, my husband and I found ourselves at the Kasbah Agounsane. We were warmly welcomed and looked after from the moment we arrived. This peaceful and traditionally decorated oasis with spectacular views is the ideal spot to relax. The staff were so friendly and attentive, always happy to help and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, hearty breakfasts and a good range of choices for dinner. We enjoyed a hamman experience and although in February it was too cold to go into the pool, we certainly enjoyed sitting in the sunshine next to the lovely pool area and gardens. We certainly wouldn't hesitate in returning to this beautiful hotel and couldn't believe our luck in finding ourselves there by chance. Our thanks to all the team.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxing few days at Kasbah Agounsane. Everything was spot on, staff friendly and attentive, rooms very spacious and comfortable, food plentiful and well prepared. Nothing much to do but that’s the point. Just relax and enjoy.

Disappointing but lovely staff

Arriving at 1130pm on 29/12 we were expecting to be able to sit and have a quiet drink before going to bed…. But instead we were greeted by night porters (who were very nice!) but rushed us straight to our room in a dark and deserted hotel, and said good night! The room was a bit tired especially the bathroom which was basic … but we thought we’d make a drink with the provided coffee and tea, and kettle with dodgy wiring…but no water provided in the room, and no option for milk for coffee. Plus the room was really cold; we added blankets to the bed and thought we would feel better about it in the morning. The stay followed in that mode. The staff were all lovely (you will need to speak some French), but amenities in room were just not there… we kept asking for coffee sachets, but once room was cleaned no more were ever provided; cups and glasses even for our water were always removed and never replaced. Once we asked we got everything…. But we always had to ask, making it awkward. The place was cold in all areas, I wore a scarf and coat within the hotel and room at all times… outside was warm and sunny during the day. The heating in the dining area were patio heaters… again the staff all lovely would put them in for us…. But they should have been on without us asking! This is a hotel in an area that is cold in the winter… if it was open, it should have been heated. The staff were in coats too a lot of the time, it wasn’t just us. This made our stay uncomfortable. We knew the hotel was a distance from Marrakech but I don’t think we realised how isolated it is. You either need a taxi or a car ideally to go anywhere. We walked into town one day, and paid 70 EUR for a return trip to Marrakech. This was not a fault of the hotel at all, I just feel people should be aware of the isolated nature of the property before the make a booking. These criticisms are small, and improvements would be easily and cheaply made to make the hotel a great and comfortable place to stay. I hope the owners read this and take note…I don’t feel we are unusual wanting warmth and amenities like water and coffee making facilities, but we are English and maybe that’s not the market they’re catering for….
