    Thailand weather October

What's the weather like in Thailand in October?

Sitting just to the north of the equator, there’s differences in weather across Thailand, but most of the country has a tropical climate. This means you'll get really high temperatures in October, which is at the end of the south western monsoon season.

    Regional variations

The south of Thailand has quite a typical tropical climate. The further south you go the more equatorial this becomes, which means there’s lots of heat and humidity. Thai weather’s dominated by November to April’s north eastern monsoon, which is drier than May to October’s south western monsoon when it’s warmer, cloudier, and more humid. When it rains, it’s usually in short and heavy downpours at night.

    Averages

One of Thailand’s most popular holiday destinations is Koh Samui, which has a year-round tourist season. During October the average high’s 30ºC, which only drops to 23ºC at night time, so you won't need many warm clothes. A rain coat’s probably a good idea though, as there’s 290mm of rain over 16 days. The sea temperature’s 29ºC, so it’s lovely and warm for swimming, while humidity’s very high. You can expect six hours of sunshine from the 12 hours of daylight each day. Take care in the sun and use plenty of sun cream as UV levels will be extremely high. Sunset’s around 6pm for most of the month.
