MUCH better than other reviews suggested
We stayed in a private room. It was very clean with a super clean bathroom. Enough space for us with hanging space (more hangers would be good) and places to put bags. Large number of electrical sockets. Good shower with complimentary toiletries. Check in and out was quick and easy. Location was good for us. We were able to walk to most places we wanted to. There have been lots of negative reviews about this hostel. We didn't have the same experience. I think the hostel should respond more personally to the negative reviews rather than the standard copy and paste comment they leave. This would give a better impression. We would stay again
Great place
Great night staff, there not tired went out of there way to help us get a bed for my boyfriend and myself. Would definitely stay there again and the rooms and the showers are super clean and some of the best showers in San Francisco. Definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling on a budget accommodation are met for also your ESA .
Absolutely awful
I've stayed in my fair share of "bad" hostels but I think this takes the cake. There was only 5 lockers in my room of a 6 bed room. And two of them were being used by one person so I had to just have my stuff out which did not make me feel safe AT all, especially walking in and seeing a sign about recent thefts/break-ins. I was told I had to check in at 3, and when I came back around 315, I was told to wait 10 minutes while they did a shift change. Then I was asked to pay a 10 dollar (refundable but still) fee for the room key that had to be in cash, and I don't carry cash really anytime but especially when I travel so it was a real pain this wasn't mentioned before hand at any point or on the website. The bed sheet they gave me did not fit at all, and the mattress had a HUGE red stain on it. The staff itself were really nice, but the accomodations are just not great. And it's in a very sketchy part of the city. You can't beat the price. I was paying about 20 bucks per night, but I've paid less at other hostels and have gotten way way more. Oh and also hot water that runs out after a 5 minute shower and a shower space that is literally 2 foot by 2 foot so you pretty much can only turn around in place. I'm also pretty sure our AC was broken. It read 65 but I was sweating profusely whenever I was in my room. Even on a 55 degree day in SF and the window open, it was so so hot. No handsoap in the bathrooms, dormmates who were up chatting with the overhead light on well past 11pm. Was never told about any kind of quiet hours upon arrival Which probably would have helped immensely in that situation. The towels they give you to shower with are like sandpaper. I understand you're paying a dirt cheap amount, but it was kind of ridiculous. There were hostels I stayed at in Europe that were cheaper and way way nicer. It's a decent walk from Bart and it's close to a lot of food and a Walgreens and such, so it:s not totally terrible, but I'd spend the extra money and stay elsewhere.
