Where should I stay in Miami?

Most of the hotels in Miami are either beach front or just a few blocks away from the ocean. South Beach, or SoBe, is great for the beautiful Art Deco architecture, shopping, restaurants and nightlife on the likes of Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road. You won’t really need a car here as it is quite compact and this way you won’t encounter any expensive car parking charges! This is the haven of Miami tourists, the further north you go, the bigger the hotels and cheaper the rates, though bear in mind, a car maybe be needed to access to the top attractions. To save some money in SoBe, it is worth looking a bit further back from the beach front and taking a wander or a cab to the action.

Can I take a boat trip from Miami?

Wild Florida Airboats are a great way of getting out on the Everglades and croc-spotting. There are a number of different experiences available from a 30-minute boat ride and wildlife park admission – a great experience for all the family. Alternatively, there are a number of sightseeing cruises from Miami from which you can cruise along Biscayne Bay, witness the beautiful downtown Miami skyline, the Port of Miami, Fisher Island, ~Miami Beach and “Millionaires Row” – the homes of the rich and famous.

What sports teams can I see in Miami?

There are a whole host of sports teams who call Miami home. Tickets are available easily online to ensure you catch your favourite team. Miami Heat play home basketball games at the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami. Head to Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens to see the Florida Marlins hit a home run. Sharing the Dolphin Stadium are the Miami Dolphins, members of the NFL. Ice hockey fans need to look no further than Florida Panthers who play home games at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise. And perhaps Miami’s youngest sports team, Miami FC was founded in 2006, they play “soccer” in Tropical Park Stadium.

What is the weather like in Miami?

As with the rest of Florida, the Sunshine State, it’s a great place to visit year round – March – May is the best time to visit, the temperature climbs throughout the season with little threat of hurricanes. June – August is probably peak season for UK visitors, when Miami is very hot and very humid. This is also Miami’s rainiest season, with storms often during the afternoon. The rest of the year, temperatures drop slightly and rainfall lessens too.

How do I get to South Beach?

From Miami International Airport, you can jump in a cab, hire a car or, to save a few pounds, jump on the Airport Flyer bus service which makes multiple stops along Miami Beach. If you are staying in Downtown Miami and need a trip to the beach, in around 20 minutes you can be on South Beach, again buses and taxis are in abundance if you don’t fancy the drive.
