Sleep Quality

January 2022

Me and my fiancé stayed here at the beginning of January. 1st thing when we got to our room we noticed was the bed was 2 small doubles instead of a king we agreed upon booking. We rang the reception which told us we should never have been offered one king as they only come in 2s in the room. Also, apparently these 2 beds were kings. They were not. Small doubles at best. Me and my partner tried to stay in one together the first night of which he rolled out of - that’s how small these beds were. After being told this about our beds, we noticed the carpet was soaking wet once taking our shoes off - the air con was leaking. We called again and they changed us rooms. After getting in the following evening we had new neighbours, which was a very loud crying baby. Of course baby’s cry - however - I’m a very light sleeper and these walls were so paper thin the baby may as well have been in our room. We paid extra to upgrade and move hotels. Probably good for family’s as good transport links, but not good for a quiet couples getaway. Reminded me more of a motel than hotel.

Convenient and Comfortable Resort

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort after a stay at the frenetic Universal Resort. I hadn’t had a full nights sleep in four nights. From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, noticed, and relaxed. Bell Services checked our luggage and we strolled over to The Riviera to enjoy Primo Piatto, their quick service restaurant. This moderate-priced resort shares a property with the deluxe DVC property, and so has access to all its amenities (although you do need to be on Riviera property to mobile order from there). We booked 2 separate rooms at CBR to ensure our teenage boys had room to move around. Our rooms were ready by 2pm or so. One thing that initially was off-putting: they assigned our kids a Preferred Room with a parking lot view, when I specifically paid for a Water or Pool view to avoid exactly that. Something to note: a Preferred Room with any type of view is considered an upgrade at CBR, even though to me it was a downgrade. However, even though they were unable to reimburse me because it was technically a pricier room, they made it right with a couple of “no strings” vouchers for free quick service meals. And, if I’m being honest, that Preferred Room location in Martinique Building 24 did turn out to be extremely beneficial. We used the extremely mellow Riviera Skyliner station for the duration of our stay, avoiding long walks to the CBR hub station. Our bus stop was the first of the internal loop, so a ride to Animal Kingdom was stress-free. And we were just a 5-10 minute walk from any food in either the CBR or The Riviera. The setup of the rooms makes taking quick service meals to go a breeze - large tables and easy to move chairs ensure there’s always a table available, and all quick service restaurants will pack up your food to go. There’s a small padded bench in each room, so if our kids didn’t have their own room and were smaller, we could have pulled that up to the table to accommodate four. We ate to-go meals from Primo Piatto, the Beach Club Marketplace (just a Skyliner ride away), and of course Centertown Market. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like eating out. We actually appreciated the spread-out nature of the resort after the packed-in feel of Universal, and it was nice to enjoy walking around the resort without having to always wear a mask, since halls are outside and most of the time you are nowhere near 6 feet of other guests. We also found front desk staff to be exceptionally friendly and accommodating. There are a few quirks here. Bell Services needed to be called twice to bring our luggage. And housekeeping never came to our room during a 4-night stay (said we needed to request it special in the app). We simply took out our own food trash. But if you can deal with those quirks and a little more walking, Caribbean Beach Resort may be your vibe.

Love the Skyliner!

We stayed in a Pirate themed room in the Trinidad block of buildings that sits opposite the Skyliner. This is a god send, as it transports you to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios without any stress. Although there was a long walk to the reception and the Trinidad block has the worst bus stop (it’s the last pick up and can be busy by the time it gets there), the Skyliner far far outweighs this. We went as Christmas when the resort is busy and we found it quiet here, very similar to Port Orleans Riverside.
