Pleasant experience
Very helpful and also friendly customer service. The short walk and or ferry ride to city walk alongside the express passes and early park admission makes this hotel well worth it and superior to some of the other surrounding hotels.
Great Family March Break Vacation at Universal Resort in Orlando
We spent March Break vacation at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando and it was a lovely experience. This was a family vacation and my children are 16 and 17. We absolutely loved how close the hotel was to the Universal Resort action. A five minute walk had you to the front door of Universal Studios. The hotel was clean and all of the staff were very friendly. I loved the pillows (and that is saying a lot as I usually don’t like hotel pillows). The rock star memorabilia sprinkled throughout the hotel is very cool. There were games to keep teens occupied (pool, ping pong and bean bag toss) when they weren’t swimming in the pool or we weren’t at one of the parks. The Beach Club (which services the entire pool area) had a wide selection of food and drinks and the they were good. It is worth noting that this particular restaurant/bar does charge an automatic 18% gratuity on all bills. The service was great, but I prefer to choose how much I wish to tip. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Rock Star Promise, Bar Band Delivery
I booked our stay at the Loews Hard Rock Hotel Universal Studios Florida in March of 2022 for our trip in March 2023 to celebrate my twin boys' 13th birthday. I booked the Future Rock Star Suite located on the Rock Royalty Floor 7. The room opens into a spacious vestibule with an adjoining large luggage closet with safe. Stepping further into the room via a small curved hallway with a drum stick Rock art wall piece, you step into the main room with a king bed, a sitting area and an LG likely 42 inch TV. There is a connecting room with two smallish beds sitting below a music star oriented in wall piece. Ours was Taylor Swift, with an actual skirt she wore at a show in Sydney Austraila. This, unfortunately, did not impress my soon to be 13 twin boys. The room has roadie equipment storage trunks as side table and dresser under another LG 42 inch TV that is slightly encased in a wall frame with decorative lighting. The ceiling was decorated with a faux nighttime star scene above a portion of the bed area. Our view was of gardens despite my request for some kind of enticing view for my kids. The bathroom had a walk in shower in one room with sink with another connecting bathroom area with a shower/tub combo and commode. This was probably the most thought out and useful part of this room. There is also a very small refrigerator. The Rock Royalty lounge was open a good portion of the day allowing guests on the floor to get an assortment of drinks most of the day. Continental breakfast was 7-10 am and was devoid of really any worthwhile hot items. Afternoon recharge was 12-3pm and evening reception was 5-7pm. Each offered a small selection of items, some tasty, others not so much. A small assortment of desserts were served from 8-9pm. None of this was worth the price paid for the room type and its location. The express passes provided were the main reason for booking at this level of property, but are provided to all guests so the upgraded price for the Rock Royalty floor and the room type were not worth the $1300 per night gouging. The proximity to the parks is a benefit but also not worth the cost. Now I can only hope that I am an outlier, but the customer service was abysmal. On arrival, they make one adult stay with the car to supervise the collection of luggage onto a luggage cart, that MUST be accompanied by a staff member to the room(more money out of pocket). We had the car parked with the valet, who did not provide my wife with a valet ticket. We arrived in our room and went to the lounge and my son who loves to be in the pool and play catch with a 4 inch foam ball was excited to see the size of the pool. Back in the room, my first task was to help my son connect his Xbox console to one of the tvs as he gets some enjoyment f4om it dur8ng our down times. I am well traveled and am familiar with multiple hotel chains and TV brands as well as hotels' proprietary feeds to the tvs and their proprietary remotes. So I dialed 0 and asked if someone could br8ng me an LG remote. I was told the property had no LG remotes. I immediately wondered how the property could have taken delivery of likely 1400 LG tvs only then to throw away 1400 LG remotes that are packaged with each flat screen TV. My next step was locating on the TV itself, the toggle button to manually switch the input source. I found it on the main room TV and figured the steps to change the source and then went to the TV in my sons' sleeping area and it was broken off and impossible to manipulate. I dialed 0 and asked about the likelihood of getting the TV replaced to one that had an operable toggle switch and here is where it all went sideways. I was transferred to a young woman named Lexie, who has no business being involved in customer service, let alone at a quasi management level. I explained to her my predicament only to be forcefully told that no outside objects could possibly be connect3d to any of their tvs. I told her that once I connected the Xbox to the TV in the main room, I would call her back and invite her to come and visualize that it is indeed possible. I did exactly that and when I asked her to come and see that this was possible she stated quite rudely, "I don't like the tone of this conversation." I was never rude, insulting, loud or boisterous, and never used one iota of foul language. As a customer paying $1300 per night I deserved and all of you deserve much better than what Lexie provided. I asked her who was the general manager of the property and I was told that her superior on duty was a gentleman named Garrett. I spoke to Garrett and explained to him my predicament, just as I did with Lexie. He said he would speak to engineering and call me back. Shortly after that, two gentlemen arrived at my door and one of them was holding an LG remote control. Within 2 minutes a process that should have taken me 2 minutes but took me an hour was completed. Garrett called back, and told him that I received the LG remote. He said this was something they normally wouldn't do. I was cordial and we ended our conversation, but I could only wonder why at $1300 per night, it was so diifulicult and out of their ordinary protocol to provide a brand remote if requested. I wasn't going to take it home. One son went to the theme park and my other son and I went to the pool to play catch. We were went to the towel shack and I greeted the young man working there and he could barely muster two words together for some reason. Another person destined for employment outside of customer service. Once in the pool, we were told that we were not allowed to play catch by a lifeguard that I could not understand, and were told we could only use a large 12-14 inch beach ball. When we asked the lifeguards and the verbose towel guard, we were told, they're not really sure why, it's just, "what we were told." Now I understand it probably has something to do with risk of injury and that all smaller balls must be treated equally, but I have never been told this at any other resort, including many who's pool area was much more heavily populated. I ordered a delivery from Amazon for my 360 degree camera, I was told by Amazon it was delivered at 330pm. I checked multiple times at the front desk and was told it has to clear security at another building before its actually brought to the hotel and once brought to the hotel it gets entered into the system and then gets delivered. Someone finally actually proactively went and looked for it and come to find out, someone was supposed to enter it into the system but no one did. Five hours after it was delivered, I was finally given my delivery item. My wife and I were going out and dialed 0 to ask for our vehicle to be brought up by the valet. I was asked for the ticket number. My wife could not find the valet ticket and emptied her purse looking for it and could not find it and she felt quite badly about it. I was asked to give a description of the car vehicle and I was told she would inform the valet of my request to bring up our vehicle. We went down and waited about 15-20 minutes and I finally asked about our vehicle and was told they were never informed by the person I spoke to about getting our vehicle. I went to the window to the valet room and pointed out our vehicle keys hung on a wall of about 100 sets. We were then informed that there was no way we could have provided a ticket number as we were never provided a ticket on our arrival. I paid $9 extra per night for this valet service above the self parking cost of $28 per night. This all occurred within 29 hours of our arrival on property. I have traveled to the Orlando area at least 20 times in the last 6 years and this was the first time staying on Universal property. Compared to Disney (the comparison must be made), and despite what has been a lessening of "Disney Magic" interpreted by some, Universal and particularly this property, is atrocious in the category of customer service and value for the money spent. The concierge level offerings at many Disney properties are exponentially superior at a far lesser price point. I have tried to be as fair and objective as possible in this review and the only reason I rated it a 2 instead of a 1 is because of Cat at the front desk who checked us in and brought my Amazon delivery to our room.
