Kissimmee is an exciting resort, which lies on the northwest shore of Lake Tohopekaliga (nicknamed Lake Toho), in the heart of the theme park capital, Orlando. The weather is lovely and hot and the nature reserves in the area are full of wildlife. As well as the amazing theme parks, Kissimmee is well known for its off the beaten track adventures, there’s always something for the whole family to enjoy.
Kissimmee is a stone’s throw away from world famous theme parks. Just over 20 minutes’ drive away you can visit Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the magical Walt Disney World Resort, where memories made will last a lifetime. Just less than 30 minutes away is Universal Orlando® Resort where the whole family can enjoy the waterparks, attractions like the The Wizarding World of Harry PotterTM and whizz around on thrilling rides and rollercoasters.
History and culture
The resort used to be a small but very important trading post along the swampy dunes on the northern bank of Lake Tohopekaliga throughout the 18th century. Kissimmee is now a bustling city in the centre of Florida’s Osceola County, just south of Orlando. Its main focus is tourists; so you can find all you may ever need for a comfortable stay no matter when you travel throughout the year.
Family evening entertainment
Kissimmee is not immediately renowned for its nightlife, but there is in fact lots to do after dark. Not many bars open late around the resort, because the evening entertainment is geared more towards families. You can however, find fantastic nightly amusements in the hotels and at events happening in the theme parks. It doesn’t matter what your age, you can enjoy a night out at one of the extremely popular dinner and themed shows. Feast on a medieval banquet or watch the theatre, sit down to a dance performance and even marvel at the famous Blue Man Group or Cirque Du Soleil.
