Situated on the tip of a peninsula in northern California, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco is the cultural capital of the area, known for its cable cars, beautiful bays, high hills and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. It may be the smallest city in the state of California but it’s big on attractions, there’s lots to do in this fabulous city from admiring the local architecture and sights to making the most of the nightlife.

No matter what your hobbies and tastes are, something about San Francisco’s history will be of interest to you. One of the well-known and most popular of San Francisco’s sights is the island of Alcatraz, the island was once home to America’s most dangerous criminals but now you can go take a look for yourself around this supposedly haunted prison. The Legion of Honor has over 4,000 years’ worth of art, but to see San Francisco’s biggest artefact, all you have to do is stand outside, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge can be seen from almost everywhere.

‘San Fran’ has plenty for the kids to do and many things the whole family will enjoy too. It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, even the smallest of Disney fans will appreciate the Walt Disney Family museum. Get to know more about the man behind some of your favourite movies, television shows and characters in interactive displays and exhibitions. Those keen to explore and discover should visit The California Academy of Sciences, it’s home to a whole host of wildlife and plants, plus there’s a planetarium and a natural history museum too.
