What is the driving time from San Francisco to the Napa Valley and Sonoma?

Napa Valley is about 70 miles from San Francisco and takes around 1.5 hours by car. Try to avoid departing from San Francisco during rush hour though as this will add to the journey time. If you do not want to drive, you can get to Napa Valley by ferry and bus. Ferries operate from the Ferry Building and an hours journey takes you to Vallejo. From here you can take The Vine Route 10 bus to the Napa Valley.

There are a number of great places to take that perfect picture of the Golden Gate Bridge. Battery Spencer, which is across the bridge has a viewing platform and is especially good for watching the sunset. Fort Point and Chrissy Fields are also good spots. For something a little different try a view from Alcatraz or a Bay Cruise. Or if you have a little more time try Marshall’s Beach on the South Bay, being on the other side of the Bay you’ll also be able to look out to the Pacific.

There are two outlet malls outside of San Francisco at Vacaville and Gilroy, however these are not very easy to access unless you have a car. San Francisco itself has plenty of shopping with two of the biggest malls being the Northpoint Centre in Fisherman’s Wharf and the Westfield San Francisco Centre near Union Square.
