I can't believe this is Hilton!

Jan 2022 | 2for1AroundTheWorld
Talk about bait-and-switch. When I was looking for a hotel to stay in for our Disneyland trip, I decided to go with Hilton Anaheim for two reasons: 1. The hotel is close to the parks. 2. It is a Hilton property, and, since I am a Diamond Hilton Honors member, we would receive Food & Beverage credits to use during our stay, so we could save some money on breakfast. I did read the reviews that were mostly unflattering, but I thought, “How bad could it be? It is Hilton!”. The pictures on the website look great plus it is one of the Convention Center hotels, so if business travelers are staying here, it sure will be ok to stay at Hilton Anaheim for a few days. Spoiler alert: wrong! I think the elevators take you through a secret tunnel to a Motel 6 or some other beat-up roadside motel where you would only stay if you had some kind of car trouble. To be honest, I’ve never stayed at a Motel 6, so this comparison could be very unfair to the motel. You go from a nice lobby to a room where all furniture is completely worn out, the fridge is cracked, the air vent in the bathroom is absolutely nasty, the bed is the hardest hotel bed we’ve ever slept in, mystery stains EVERYWHERE, and the bathroom door doesn’t even close all of the way. The “private” balcony is anything but private. Make sure the balcony door is locked all the time because absolutely any of your neighbors can easily climb over the divider to visit your room. While we have encountered some hotels that could use a refurbishment, none of them needed it so badly as Hilton Anaheim. This is the only Hilton property I would not recommend. It is so bizarre Hilton would allow this property to be in such horrible shape. There are so many other hotels nearby and most of them are priced on par with this one. Why would anyone want to stay here? Once the business conferences resume, I would love to sit at the lobby bar having a drink and watching a stream of businesspeople checking in and then swiftly exiting after they see what condition the rooms are in.

Beautiful Hotel

Loved the Hilton Anaheim! Beautiful lobby. I absolutely loved the tiki bar in the pool area. My favorite spot every day! Food was also delicious! Staff was awesome! Hotel is a bit far from the LA downtown area and transportation to and from could be a bit pricey!

I prefer the Anaheim Marriot across the street

I stayed at the Anaheim Marriot for 7 nights before staying at the Hilton Anaheim for 2 nights. My flight home was cancelled, so I was stuck in Anaheim for an additional 2 days. Unfortunately, the last minute rate for the Anaheim Marriot was twice what I had originally paid, so I opted to stay across the street at the Hilton Anaheim which was $50 per night cheaper. The Hilton Anaheim has a beautiful lobby. The rooms on the other hand are rather outdated. On top of that, the hotel is huge and the layout is confusing, I got lost trying to find the elevator from my room. Since I had run out of clothes, I made use of the laundry room. The cost was $4 for the washer and $4 for the dryer. The pool area looked fun and kid friendly, but we weren’t able to make use of it since it was chilly outside. Overall, a decent hotel that is not too far from Disney, but overpriced at $160 per night. Perhaps if it were closer to $100 per night then I’d return. A tip for transportation to Disneyland… we’ve used ART in the past and didn’t have any issues, however this time our experience was not the same. We went down to the stop early, so we were one of the first people to get on the bus, however a large line had formed behind us. The driver packed in a bunch of people then stopped the line, but then he went to 3 other stops and packed in even more people. While leaving Disneyland we saw a long line at the stop and opted to just take an Uber back (the price usually varies between $7-$9 each way, so not too expensive). On the day we took a break from the parks and just visited Downtown Disney, we walked to Downtown Disney (about a 20 min walk) and took the free Toy Story shuttle back (about a 5 min walk from the hotel).
