5 Things to do in Lara Beach

With its many All Inclusive luxury hotels, it's no wonder Lara Beach is known as Turkey's answer to Las Vegas! Boasting large pools, waterparks, restaurants and, of course, a golden beach, it's a sun-kissed getaway the whole family can enjoy. Picture-perfect Lara Beach is more than just what its name suggests too, as there's a lot of wildlife and history to discover.

And if you're looking for things to do in Antalya, there's plenty of choice just a short distance away from this beautiful resort.

Golden sand and crystalline blue waters

It's no surprise Turkey has great beaches considering its coastlines meet the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, and Lara Beach is one of the best. This award-winning Blue Flag beach has golden sand that stretches for 12km, while the crystalline blue waters are the perfect place for the family to take a swim.

This tourist hotspot comes with all the amenities you could ask for including parasols, loungers and trendy beach bars serving colourful cocktails (some will even bring them directly to your lounger, so you don't even have to get up!). Most of the major hotels have a private slice of beach for you to enjoy, but if you fancy a break from all that relaxing, then the main beach offers water sports for you to try.

Underwater ruins and ancient cities

Tear yourself away from the beauty of Lara Beach and book yourself onto a don't-miss day trip from the resort. Take a boat trip to Kekova Island to see its famous underwater ruins, the remnants of an ancient town which was submerged by an earthquake.

On the same trip, you'll head to the ancient city of Myra. Walk among the remains of the city's amphitheatre and rock tombs, before finishing with a tour of the Church of St Nicholas. If you prefer to stay on land and explore, Kaleiçi old town is a perfect place to wander through winding streets and be in awe of the historic architecture and beautifully decorated structures.

There are also plenty of things to do in Antalya, which is only a bus journey away. Offering a more authentic experience away from the luxurious five-star hotels, a stroll around Antalya includes historical sites like the old Roman harbour and Hadrian's Gate.

Waterfalls and hot springs

Not far from the popular All Inclusive resort is the stunning Düden river and waterfalls. Located just west of Lara Beach, the river flows off a 40-metre cliff into the sea. You can see these spectacular falls from land, or you can take a boat from Antalya's harbour to see them close up.

Another relaxing and popular water attraction is the natural phenomenon of the Pamukkale hot springs and ancient Cleopatra's Pool, where you can experience the Roman era in all its glory. Pamukkale means 'cotton castle' in Turkish, and when you see how its natural springs have solidified into snowy-white stalactites and cliffs it's clear why. Many people still flock here to enjoy the scenic views and take a dip in the thermal pool.

Boutiques and bazaars

Lara Beach's plush hotels are filled with an array of boutiques, offering everything from designer clothing to souvenirs. Shopping is also top of the list of things to do in Antalya, nearby. Even more places to shop can be found in the town centre with its bazaars selling leather goods, jewellery, handmade crafts and Turkish sweets. For the shopaholics, head to one of the massive shopping malls that are nearby Lara Beach. You'll find She Mall and Terracity easy to get to.
