Visit the famous Red Tower image

The most famous tower of Alanya Castle is Red Tower. Situated in a more accessible location, the stronghold is surrounded by quaint little shops and cafés. The huge, five story defence tower is 30 metres wide and has an unusual octagonal shape. Its magnificent red brick frame looms over the harbour below and is considered an iconic symbol of the city.

It homes a museum inside, which tells the story of its origins, uses and how it was constructed in 1226 after the town surrendered to the sultan. Not only is the tower interesting and rich with history, but it also gives spectacular views of the bustling harbour and picturesque marina below. The views from the top of the tower are the best, so be prepared for the climb up the steps.
