Best Fuengirola Waterparks

With average temperatures of 25℃ and around 320 days of sunshine each year, it's worth having a fun way to cool off, particularly if you're travelling to Fuengirola with the kids. While the beach might be perfect for mums and dads, younger visitors can get bored, so it's a good idea to know a little about where the best Fuengirola waterparks are.

Packed with rides and slides, they're the perfect way for kids to have a good time and many of them offer dedicated pools and attractions for little ones, as well as nerve-shredding rides for teens and grown-ups who can't resist.

Aquamijas

If you're travelling with younger children in tow, Aquamijas is probably the best of the Fuengirola waterparks. Just a five-minute drive or a ten-minute walk from Mijas, it's convenient to get to and offers a fun day out. It's less crowded than many of the other waterparks, and there's plenty to see and do. Older kids can go on all the waterslides, but there are three that their younger siblings or friends won't be allowed to ride on.

These three offer grown-up-style thrills and spills, while the other two were designed with little ones in mind. You can bring your own picnic or eat at the on-site restaurant. If the waterslides are too much, there's mini-golf and a climbing wall on offer too.

Costa Water Park

The Costa Water Park is one of the Fuengirola waterparks that has taken aqua-based entertainment to a new level. Instead of the usual waterslides and rides, you'll find this construction floating just 70 metres from the beach. An out-at-sea inflatable obstacle course, it offers climbing frames, stepping stones and even a floating trampoline.

Visitors can practice standing up on surfboards or slide down a slippery slope and straight into the sapphire sea. Children need to be relatively strong swimmers to gain entry to the Costa Water Park, but lifejackets are provided for extra safety.

Aqualand

Although not strictly one of the Fuengirola waterparks, Aqualand is still worth a mention. Set in Torremolinos, just a 15 minutes' drive from Mijas, it's the biggest in the Malaga region. There are plenty of waterslides for children, such as the Anaconda and the Multipistas, and the Mini Park is a safe-but-fun play area for toddlers.

For grown-ups, there are 19 high-octane attractions to get to grips with, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to have some fun. The Boomerang is one of the newer additions, offering a horseshoe-shaped track which you speed along, sitting in a rubber ring. For dedicated daredevils, the Kamikaze is the slide to go for. It tests visitors' nerves with a 22-metre drop and is the highest slide of its kind in Europe.

If you'd rather take things a bit more slowly, there's an 18-hole mini golf course. You can bring your own food or choose to eat in one of the many cafés or restaurants.

Top tips

Fuengirola waterparks are incredibly popular and it's well worth going early to avoid the queues that form later in the day. Many have their own shuttlebus services, making them easy to get to, even if you're holidaying close by. While credit cards are always welcome, it can be worth taking a bit of cash with you to pay for lesser purchases such as anything you buy at the gift shop. Valuables are best kept in the lockers provided. If you want to keep the costs of your day down, look for Fuengirola waterparks with picnic areas, such as Aquamijas, and take your lunch with you.
