It’s well worth the walk up to see the town’s landmark, Sohail Castle, perched on a hillside with fantastic views across the whole town. History

Getting around Fuengirola

By bus: Fuengirola has a bus station in the town centre, with a bus service running to the coast and out to nearby resorts. Buses are regular and reliable and are an affordable way of getting around.

By taxi: There are several taxi ranks throughout Fuengirola, including close to the bus station in the town centre.

By train: Fuengirola’s train station is a few minutes’ walk from the bus station in the centre of town. The airport and resort on Costa del Sol are well-connected by train, and the journey is an opportunity to enjoy the scenery.

Events in Fuengirola

The fun of the fair: Spain is big on town fairs, and Fuengirola hosts its own in October. Feria de Fuengirola consists of a week of kids’ funfair rides, activities and stalls, with lots of food, drink and live music. Traditionally, locals drink sherry and dress up in colourful flamenco costumes. The fair closes with a big party and firework display.

Beer festival: In August, Fuengirola goes all Bavarian. The town’s beautiful Moorish castle, Sohail, becomes the venue for Bierfest, a 10 day beer festival featuring German specialties and the best beer from around the world.
