In Fuengirola there is the Castillo Sohail, ruins of roman buildings, the biggest weekly market on the Costa del Sol and a very big shopping centre (Miramar). Public transport is good and buses run every 20 minutes and there is also a direct train to the next villages of Benalmadena and Torremolinos. If you stay on the train it will take you to the city centre of Malaga. For sights further afield (Ronda, Gibraltar, etc), you can hire a car in resort or book an excursion.
