JUST RETURNED
Just returned from a weeks holiday with friends. Hotel was nice but some outside areas looking tired and in need of repair. clean large rooms with two large beds. Staff didn't speak very much English. Pool area had plenty sun beds and parasols, only problem at pool was told I couldn't use an inflatable ring in the pool as it was too large. couldn't see what the problem was there was two large pools as well as a children's pool so plenty of room for inflatables. Food wasn't the best and was never hot even when it was just bought out from the kitchen. Only things that were hot was the toast which you did yourself and when it was cooked in front of you...i.e. eggs in morning and various meats and fish in the evenings everything else was cold. We ended up eating a few nights to get a hot meal. Overall we had a nice stay. Nice resort plenty of bars and lovely beach.
Good Hotel and Resort
The Hotel overall is nice with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms and public areas clean. We had a balcony looking over the pool on one of the top floors. We stayed B&B. There was always a good selection for breakfast. something for everyone's taste including Cava. check in was a little slow but this wasn't really an issue. The majority of the guests were Spanish. This is one of the reasons why i booked it as its nice to experience what the locals do. also if the locals holiday here - it will often be good. There are bars and restaurants a few minutes walk from the hotel. Walking into the main town is around 20 minutes depending how fast you walk. There is plenty to do around here. The beach was 5 minutes walk and is vast- The water is nice to swim in.
Excellent but this is not the average al-inclusive option
We were a large group from grandparents to toddlers and we all had a great time. But if you are a British traveller beware it is a different kind of all-inclusive from what you may be used to. The majority of the guests are Spanish but some staff speak excellent English. I’ve read previous comments where some people found staff to be rude but apart from one of the pool bar staff who appeared to find it amusing to act like he couldn’t understand some people in our group and serve them ridiculous drink concoctions... not realising my understanding of Spanish was better than he thought so on hearing him telling a colleague he was making it a sport to see how far he could act this way with us... I explained we understood his game and miraculously he managed to get every drinks order right. Some staff were very warm and friendly and some were just... Spanish! After two weeks spent in the company of spanish guests I learnt their culture is very different to ours so when people bump into you or push in front of you they aren’t being intentionally rude to you, it’s just the way they are, so after a few days we reigned in our British manners and just followed suit. The rooms were very clean and maids were happy to give us extra pillows when we asked. The food was good even for the vegetarians. The restaurant was excellent with waiter service for drinks. Juliet the crepe chef is brilliant and the waiters Edwardo and Alejandro were particularly nice. The alcoholic drinks are all branded with a brilliant selection. The pool and water park were great. You aren’t allowed into the Pool area until 9:30am which is great but as soon as you are allowed in you have to be quick to get beds in your preferred spot. The annimation team are great, they work really hard and are very enthusiastic, with activities for kids of all ages. The entertainment is the usual ropey animations team effort... but in Spanish. So we ended our evenings in the pub. You need your room key for EVERYTHING... to get in the restaurant, to get in the pool area, to order drinks or snacks at any bar... so I’d recommend you ask for a second key when you check in as it’s a hassle sharing. Safe hire is 5 euros a day and you have to pay a 10 euro refundable deposit for the key. There is also a basic but decent gym which isn’t advertised on the jet2 website.
