The currency in Costa Brava, as in the rest of Spain, is the Euro.

It’s easy to get your currency sorted out before you head off on your Costa Brava holidays, either from your local Thomas Cook outlet, online, or even at the local Post Office or Co-Operative Bank. If you want the freedom to top up your holiday funds while you’re away but want to avoid the potential additional charges you could get if you use your credit or debit card, then why not apply for a Lyk card? These cards look and work in exactly the same way as a credit card, but you can top them up for free whenever you want. It also means you keep your holiday funds separate from your standard bank account, so it’s safer, more manageable, and easy to use.

The vast majority of restaurants, hotels and shops will take the usual credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard, but if you’re venturing a little further afield or need a quick snack, it’s best to have some cash in your pocket. Smaller shops, stores and kiosks may not take credit cards.

ATMs are plentiful, but be aware that you may be charged a fee to take out cash. Tipping is appreciated but not compulsory.
