Something fun for the kids and perfect for family days out, Mundomar Benidorm is a popular tropical-themed animal park in Benidorm. Usually open from February to December, it is home to more than 80 different species of animal. It’s one of numerous big family theme parks in the resort, which is among the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean.
The animals at Mundomar
While the main focus at Benidorm Mundomar is on the marine animals like dolphins, sea lions and penguins, there are also many types of birds including parrots and toucans, plus meerkats, lemurs and porcupines. See the beautiful bright pink flamingos which are native to tropical regions of South America, the giant tortoise from the Zanzibar region of southern Africa, and the eagle owl commonly found in the Costa Blanca and other Mediterranean areas.
There’s more to Mundomar Benidorm than just the animals; the surrounding gardens are a show-stopper too. They feature a whole host of lush plants and colourful flowers, complete with man-made waterfalls and ponds. As well as being a delight to walk around, they also make a beautiful backdrop for your holiday snaps. To keep the kids occupied in between seeing the animals, there’s a playground for them to run around. There are also a couple of slides and a climbing frame that will have your little ones burning off some of their energy.
If you’re a family visiting Mundomar in the evening, you can even book a children’s ‘sleepover’, which is suitable for children aged 6 to 11. This takes places on Fridays and Saturdays in August, and includes a fun-packed evening of activities where children learn all about the animals there, and includes a meal followed by a night-long sleepover.
Mundomar Benidorm offers many other special activities and experiences. In fact, you can even take part in an Animal Experience activity and find out what it’s like to be a sea lion caretaker, or discover how the park’s professional keepers keep all the animals safe.
