Places to go

Benidorm has been a top beach holiday destination for years, and this favourite hotspot has two spectacular Blue Flag beaches. Levante is the livelier of the two, with plenty of watersports and facilities for the kids, as well as sugar-soft sand that's just perfect for sandcastle competitions. Poniente is more laid-back and relaxed, with a boardwalk and promenade, and excellent access for wheelchair users. Don't worry about struggling to find a spot, because there are 4km of sandy beaches in Benidorm so there's room for everyone.

If you want to escape the crowds and are looking for places to visit in Benidorm that are a little more laid back and relaxed, head out to the smaller surrounding villages such as Finestrat, Albir or Villa Joyosa. You can also hop on a boat trip from Benidorm harbour over to the charming Isle de Benidorm wildlife sanctuary. For some splendid isolation and a chance to relax in the sun for the day without the hustle and bustle of the mainland, the tiny island of Tabarca, just off Alicante, is a must-see.
