Landmar Costa los Gigantes Family Resort

Located in Tenerife’s quieter Puerto de Santiago resort, Landmar Costa Los Gigantes is around 1km from the sandy stretches of the beach. The hotel boasts six outdoor pools, two for toddlers, one with a twisting white knuckle slide and three for the whole family. A further option can be found inside the fully equipped spa. Here, there is also a sauna, gym and massage rooms, allowing you to either exercise your muscles or completely relax them.

The hotel’s mascot, Landi, will keep the children entertained. The activity programme includes Simon says, musical statues, making music, dancing and fun in the pool. Landi is a sea turtle with a backstory about living in the Atlantic Ocean. As well as keeping the kids entertained, Landi educates them about protecting sea life.

When it’s time to eat, Teide is a buffet restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner, that dishes up a wide variety of international dishes. If you don’t fancy Mediterranean cuisine, maybe you’d like to try Mexican or Hindi. Lunch is served at La Palmera between 12:30 and 3pm . If you like to get up late, the poolside Nautilus has you covered (open from 10am). Come back in the afternoon for paella and yummy barbecued bites.

When you’re looking for a refreshing beverage, there’s plenty of choice. The main bar is open from 10am to midnight, boasting live music and premium cocktails (for a surcharge). Broadway serves drinks to accompany the evening’s mini disco and the family entertainment shows. The poolside option is open from 10am to 5pm, ideally placed if you wish to spend the day relaxing on a sunlounger. Last, but by no means least, Landi Bar specialises in energising drinks, allowing you to have just what you need after a workout.

Double rooms have a very generous 30m2 of space and space for two guests. They boast a combined bath and shower. But if you’re travelling with kids, you’ll want to book a Landi Village Suite. Accommodating clans of up to five, you’ll get two visits a week from Landi with surprise gifts for the children. They’ll also be something complimentary waiting in the minibar for the parents. And if that wasn’t enough, you can enjoy a freshly brewed coffee at any time and you’ll benefit from reserved poolside hammocks. Standard Suites are also available to book, for groups of no more than four. Choose either an ocean or garden view.

From the marina (1.7km away) it’s possible to go on wildlife boat trips, where you may get to see dolphins, sharks, whales and even some of Landi’s sea turtle relatives. Local buses stop a few hundred metres from the hotel’s entrance, meaning you can get to numerous places, including the scenic Santiago del Teide, either with or without a hire car. This is a popular countryside area for easy walks or more strenuous hikes. The Thai-themed Siam Park, a favourite with children, is just a 25km drive from Landmar Costa Los Gigantes.
